Enough with the sex! Although Ms. Green's books do deal frankly with a highly sexual content, there is much more to her storytelling than mere erotica. While compared to "Xena" and "Gor" characters, the Jalav chracter struggles with real empathic and moralistic struggles (in between the graphic sex), as well as questioning her own role in society vs. the larger culture that the character is exposed to in her travels. This is a "must read" series for anyone interested in an individual's struggle to stand up for what one believes in and how one lives one's life.

Excellent read. Having read the entire series as a teenager searching for identity, it served to shape my independence and confidence. The Jalav series contrasts the issue of women in a female dominated society with women in a male dominated society and all it's primitive pitfalls. In the end, proving how strong women really are.
