Micheal Enslin is a paranormal writer who makes a living by staying at supposedly haunted places and writes books about them. The man is tempted in staying at 1408 of the Dolphin Hotel when he receives a letter one day, warning him not to and sees this as a golden opportunity to publish another book. Olin the hotel manager tries to convince Micheal Enslin from checking in 1408. It turns out nobody has lasted over an hour, as a large number of people have died in that forbidden room. The protagonist firmly insisted in staying. Olin finally gives in and hands him the key to the room. Crazy things begin happening to Micheal Enslin there as he makes futile attempts to escape from the sinister hotel room. With no way out, he risks killing himself like all the other victims who couldn't keep their sanity!
The Two-disc Collector's Edition contains the original theatrical release of 1408 and the Director's Cut that was rejected by test audiences because it had a more tragic and depressing ending to it.
