I've been a fan of Cardscan - figured it was time to upgrade from 6 to 9.

Not sure it was the right move - first and foremost IT DOES NOT WORK WITH 64 BIT SYSTEMS - so the primary advantage of being small and portable makes it unusable with my laptop.

Using this on my 32 bit desktop, the software as always quickly and accurately scans and translates information from most business cards.

But the old feature of one-click sending the data to Outlook seems to be gone and requires a much more cumbersome (and potentially duplicating) process of synchronizing.

ah, synchronizing ... seems every program that attempts this gets close, but no cigar.

Think twice before purchasing this item - make sure you are not using more current systems ....

Could not get to work on Windows7 March 5 2012

Followed the install instructions for the device. Was able to calibrate using the card provided, but every time I tried to scan a real business card the software would crash. Spent ~2 hrs on the phone with Dymo tech support. They had me try a number of different things, including emailing me two different versions of the software to try. Finally the tech support guy (who was friendly) was out of options and suggested I try the scanner on another computer. As this was a work issued computer, another computer was not an option and I was forced to return the scanner.

Works most of the time Oct. 22 2013

Bought this to digitize hundreds of business cards I have collected over the past couple of years. This scanner seems to work well when the card is pretty "plain vanilla" (doesn't have a lot of fancy fonts or data positioning). I have to correct the data input on about 10% of the cards (data didn't import correctly). I notice now that I have scanned over 300 cards that the rollers are beginning to slip a little. This causes the card to twist a little when it passes through the scanner resulting in a slightly crooked image, but still readable. I am NOT importing these into Outlook, even though they claim to be able to do this easily. I only keep active contacts in Outlook. I like the ability to create and search categories, do a second scan for the back side of the card (although this does take more time), have an area for notes, and print to an Excel sheet. Bottom line: this unit helps me reduce the paper I have in the office so I can throw away the cards that I have been collecting and putting in piles around the office - which is why I bought it.

Synchronizing CardScan with Outlook - Not compatible with the 64 bit version of Office 2010 or later April 14 2014

Answer Title: Synchronizing CardScan with Outlook
Answer Link: [...]

Secondly, CardScan software currently is not compatible with the 64 bit version of Office 2010 nor the new Microsoft Office 2013. Specific functions may or may not work correctly. Our developers are aware of the issue and are working towards a resolution in a future software release later this spring.

The CardScan software will install and operate normally, but you will not have the ability to do a direct synchronization between CardScan and Outlook, nor will the add-ins install.

However, you can export your CardScan database in the Vcard format and then import them into Outlook. You will find export information here:

Will not work with Mobile phones and Tablets Dec 13 2013
By Think Fish - Published on Amazon.com
CardScan user for over 15 years and I have to say CardScan is no longer useable. This software will not work with my Iphone, or my Ipad. So all the data is only on the computer at home. Will not work with Nexus phones and laptops either. What good is it to have data and no way to get to that data. This is a shame as Card Scan was so good, so useful, so necessary. How can this company expect anyone to buy an out of date product. This is 15 year old Tech and software.
