This CD represents the entire commercially available recorded output of one of Western Canada's most popular rock bands of the 1960s - Witness Inc.
A total of five singles or ten songs may not seem like a lot, however, considering they were created in the pre-CRTC Canadian content era when radio shunned local releases, ten songs is an impressive statement of musical determination.
A cross section of four much-loved cover tunes and six self-penned originals, this compilation is the perfect backward glance at the phenomena that was Witness Inc.

Witness Incorporated are a band I grew up listening to. I know most of these songs backwards having heard them since the mid to late 60s.
For years I scoured the internet to find samples of the Witness Inc. catalogue to download. Most of the samples available were of very bad quality so you can imagine my excitement when I saw this collection offered for release.
The music is great as I remembered it to be, but as always if your source material is lacking in quality then your final product will suffer as well.
The technical quality of the songs included here is not much better than many of the samples available on the internet. I suspect many of the songs were just a straight transfer from a copy of the 45 rpm release.
To top it off, it sounds like during the process a convoluted stereo effect was added that gives the CD a "hollow" sound.
My recommendation is, if you are a diehard Witness Inc. fan, then this collection is a must have regardless of it's technical shortcomings. The music is still great.
If you have just a casual interest, save your money and buy some Streetheart CDs.
Hopefully someday some better quality sources for this material will be found and it will given the treatment this historical music deserves.

No outstanding performances here, but still an entertaining look at the early career of an artist (Kenny Shields) who along with the rest of Streetheart never quite achieved the success and recognition they deserved. Definitely worth the price.
