When I first was exposed to French language music, it was via songs from Celine Dion. The first time I heard her sing, I was captivated. (though, I'm not as much of a fan of her English sung songs, which are pretty good, but not always as pleasant to me... with exceptions, of course). So, as a guy, I think it's more natural to like women singers, as most minds of men are attuned to perk up when hearing a woman's voice. It's just natural. Anyway, so I started collecting French music, and at first, went for the female singers, as somehow I felt weird listening to men singing in French. After a while, I got over that stereotype, and found there are some very good French male singers, and Francis Cabrel is one of the best. Listen to some of his music on Youtube, and perhaps you will be inclined to order his music for your listening pleasure too. Other very good male singers, per my taste in music, are: Paul Piche, Yves Simon and Joe Dassin (who was an American born of a French immigrant, who went back to France, and died way too young).
