Rankins rock,
By Amanda (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: 1989-1998 Souvenir (Audio CD)
This is an excellent summary of the work the Rankin family has done over the past ten years. They picked out their favourite and their fans favourite songs and stuck it on here. I love it, it's a two cd set and most of the songs are damn perfect east coast music. Seriously best cd I've bought in a long time. Worth the money no matter what you spend on it

The Rankin Family is the obvious choice for pure celtic music unadulterated by commercial input. If you love celtic fiddling and guitar, it is here as well!

Ya Just Gotta Have it,
By Edward C. Snyder "Folk Music Lover" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: 1989-1998 Souvenir (Audio CD)
I first saw the Rankin Family on a CBC awards program some years ago while stationed in Tacoma WA, and have been collecting their CD's ever since. This is an absolutely great CD, especially for the car, since I don't have to juggle other Rankin CD's while dodging Phoenix traffic just to hear my favourites. They are one of the few artists I switch off my XM radio for. The voices are clear and crisp, the lyrics still hold the meanings, and the music just fantastic. Next best thing to seeing them live, which unfortunately being in Phoenix, I doubt seriously will be the case.
