4.0 out of 5 stars Jeff Buckley Rocks Out--Live! Nov. 25 1998
Format:Audio CD
The opener on this album is an extended, rockin' version of "Dream Brother," which originally appeared on the Grace LP. Instead of esoteric, Eastern sounds like the tabla utilized on the original, this live one has kickin' drums. Know what else? (This was unexpected) there's even audience participation! Quite a break away from the small-club Live at Sin-e recordings. The audience is uncommonly plentiful (but then again, this show was done in France, not in the States), and Jeff's interaction with them will make you feel like you're there. He has such a great rapport with the audience here. The extended version of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" is also quite good, as is the French medley he incorporates. Listening might make you regret not ever seeing him play live, as it so obviously would have been well worth it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Vocal pyrotechnics and audience ambience Dec 30 1998
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Buckley might be guilty of vocal excesses in this warmly atmospheric live recording, but lets not forget that the guy was an astonishingly talented vocalist, so who can blame him for strutting his stuff a little? In any case, the deliciously baroque performance that Buckley turns in on this CD will delight diehard fans, although the unconverted may find his lengthy improvisional vocal riffs a little demanding. It helps to be familiar with the original tracks to really appreciate the witty lyrical asides and scat-choruses which an innovative Buckley includes. The recording has an ecstatic atmosphere due to the obvious adulation of the live audience, but the best thing about it is That Voice - whether its sweetly controlled or passionate and unleashed, Buckley's vocal gift never fails to raise hairs on the back of one's neck.

5.0 out of 5 stars My first live jeff album, and my fave May 24 1999
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
This album was the first jeff buckley live album that I ever listened to, and it was love at first listen. I haven't taken this cd out of my cd player in about the 4 months since I got it. I loved all the versions of the songs he did, especially these parts: the ending of dream brother, the improvisation in the way young lovers do, the mixing of je n'en connais pas le fin and hymne a l'amour, and the extra part at the end of hallelujah. I basically love this album, and if you like jeff buckley, this is a must have.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is my favorite Buckley CD! March 16 1999

This has got to be the most wonderful Jeff Buckley CD ever! I have never had a CD that provoked such wonderful feelings! "Dream Brother" is done fabulously, with little improvisions along the way. My favorite on this, however, is "Hallelujah." The beginning is so ethereal... the whole Cd will pull you into this feeling. It took me a month to take it out of the CD player!

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW July 8 1999

Buy it. otherwise you will regret it. A must for any Jeff Buckley fan. As usual, he excels on guitar and vocals, improvising many parts of the solo songs. He takes you on a journey with Van Morrisons "The Way Young Lovers Do" that will stick with you and playing the cd over and over again. If anything can make you appreciate His music more, it is this album.
