5.0 out of 5 stars Been using for years and gets better with every year Dec 5 2011
By Lisa Atkinson - Published on Amazon.com
I have been receiving the Cape Dorset Inuit Engagement Calendar for years as a gift in December. I use it daily because it is beautiful, compact, and easy to review the whole week and month. The style gets better each year with improvements. The art work is stunning. The cost goes towards supporting people who have their hearts in the right place. Their sustainable business practices rightly embody building individual community spirit that embraces expanding world consciousness. The stillness of the artist's inner world is reflected in the subject's illustrated light. The illuminated art is gifted to the receiver through an extraordinary daily reminder of engaging vast open spaces, which mirror hidden places in the living heart. I am grateful to the artists for their commitment to share their work with the world. I appreciate the publisher for supporting the artists of this community to share their important legacy gift that generations continue to strive to pass forward from elders to youth. My life is blessed with this extraordinary art. It is community efforts like this engagement calendar, which help underwrite the financial costs, that keep communal art alive and flourishing from one generation to the next. Purchasing this calendar is an act of art preservation and a gift of gratitude to the artists.
