About the Author

Amy Knapp was a businesswoman with a promotional advertising company when her daughter contracted meningitis at the age of two months. Realizing that she was going to have lifelong challenges and disabilities, Amy sold her business to become a stay-at-home mom, only to find that her organizational tools didn't help her be productive in a home environment. To fill the gap, she created Amy Knapp's Family Organizer, now in its sixth year with accumulated sales of over500,000 copies. She lives in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Great Calendar... not great paper Sept. 9 2011
By L. Veele - Published on
Format: Calendar
Let me start by saying, I do love the idea of this calendar. The spaces are huge to write in, you have spaces to keep track of everything. I have had multiple "mommy calendars" in the past and I can't live with out them. That being said. I highly dislike the paper this calendar is printed on. I write and write and write on my calendars. I put stickers on them. I use them. The paper in this calendar is not made for writing on. I went through the calendar and added all the birthdays and anniversaries and about half way done I relized that you could see everything through the pages. To the point where it is honestly not usable. I will not be able to use it at all. I would return it except for the fact that I wrote in it. If you write in your calendars and use something other than a pencil you need to keep looking.

LOVE IT! June 13 2011

I love my calendar. Paper calendars are just for me. I am still not high tech enough to use the digital calendar for all my family charting. This is my second year having this calendar and I love it. I have tried lots of other calanders out there and even tried to make my own. So far this one works the best for my system. It's very large and the boxes are large. This one starts with August 2011 and runs through 2012 which is ideal for me. I already have lots of 2012 activities I have had to write down and am glad I don't have to wait until closer to 2012 to find a calendar. My only grip is that the paper could be a little thicker, but that is just me being picky. I plan to buy these yearly unless something better comes along.

A lifesaver Aug. 23 2011

With 3 kids who are involved in dance, soccer, wrestling, swim, and basketball, I always have a lot to write on each day of the month. Add in a husband with a crazy work schedule, and my calendar was always crammed. This is the only one that gives me enough room, and I buy one every year. And my kids like the stickers! I also keep a gmail calendar linked to my husband's to try and coordinate what is going on in the family, appointments, performances, games, etc. But I personally have to have a calendar hanging on the frig to refer to throughout the day.

After a lot of searching for a calendar with big enough daily spaces to write more than one thing on, I came across this on Amazon. Bingo! It's been working great, I can easily see everything, lots of space to write events and reminders, plus putting a sticky note or two. There's a great "Monthly Projects" list at the top of each month to help remind you of things (like changing furnace filters, getting summer camp things ready, planning vacations, etc), a "family reminders/don't forget" at the top and bottom of each month, plus a "Dinner Menu" colored 'strip' that runs along the whole week. It's an all-in-one family must have!!

I always like the pencil/paper calendars; tried the digital palm pilot/cell phone bit, and didn't work as well. There always seems to be a quick note to jot down here/there, and besides, you can't put stickies on your electronic calendar (never mind having to worry about charging it).

All in all, a great calendar for anyone, especially the busy family; I'm certainly going to keep getting one every year. Buy it: you won't be disappointed!!!

Awesome Calendar for Busy Families Jan. 25 2012

I first bought the 2011 version of this calendar at Barnes and Noble (and paid much more I may add.) I loved it. When I looked for one this year at B&N, I couldn't find the same one, so I settled on a different one. I hated it, and used it for only 2 weeks and found this on Amazon and ordered it.
I love how much space you are given on each date to write appointments, events, etc. Each day has lines, but they are subtle enough that you are not distracted. I have had calendars that your eyes go buggy with all the lines. This one is perfect. My favorite feature is that on each day, there is a "Dinner Menu" line. It makes it so easy to just jot down what you plan to have, and keep it all in one place.

I would have given 5 stars if:
- If they included more stickers for "Happy Birthday" and "No School". There are 20 "Happy Birthday" and 30 "No School" stickers for the year. For me, there are not enough of these. I run out of both. It's only enough "No School" stickers for January through June. I won't have any stickers for Fall. Yet, there are 10 "Vet" Stickers for the year. Do most pet owners go to the Vet 10 times in a year?
- If there was a built in magnet. The "other" calendar that I bought (and used for 2 weeks) had a huge, thick, heavy duty magnet built in - probably the only feature I liked about that calendar.

Those small cons aside, I think it is a great calendar, great value, and if you are a busy family, there is plenty of room to write all of your appointments and events.
