Take what we can get!, Nov 12 2003
This review is from: 20th Century Masters - The Best of Olivia Newton-John: The Christmas Collection (Audio CD)
Yes, It may just be repackaged from 2 years ago, but for the price, and for Olivia not recording any new Christmas songs, I'll take it! I'd listen to her sing the phonebook if I had to. She does an amazing job with the difficult, and much attempted, "Ave Maria", and though the collection of songs here are from various different sources, including a Kenny Loggins TV Christmas special, the audio quality is top notch and they sound like they belong together.

Nice but not the best from her, Sep 26 2003

Olivia Newton-John is always a great and nice voice to hear so this compilation of christmas songs is OK for me. I would expect something better from her, I mean a special christmas album with new recordings under the directions of a great producer. Not the case, this is just a nice and low profile CD that you can add -without any problem- to your season music collection.

Just leave it in the vaults!, Sep 26 2003
This review is from: 20th Century Masters - The Best of Olivia Newton-John: The Christmas Collection (Audio CD)
Originally released in 2001 to miserable sales and lack of public (and artist!) interest, Olivia Newton-John's 'Christmas Collection' is a lousy compilation of rubbish she had recorded for various charity albums over the last 10 years. So desperate were they to boost the running time, extracts from a Kenny Loggins Xmas TV special featuring Olivia were included! The whole project stinks and doesn't deserve to be released once, let alone twice. Olivia's voice has developed a worrying croak in recent times and throughout this set she sounds old, bored and tired. If you can stomach her abysmal renditions of 'Ave Maria' and 'O Holy Night' more than once then you're a better man than me. This pointless re-release shows that record companies have more money than sense and if they must rehash Olivia's back catalogue, they should consider decent special editions of her best work like 'Physical', 'Totally Hot' and the 'Xanadu-Soundtrack' instead of crud like this which wouldn't sell if Olivia gave away free kisses with it. A poor effort from an artist who really deserves much better.
