2.0 out of 5 stars Scum-bags, Aug 18 2006

This isn't a bad season, but the fact that they put Johnny Depps face all over the cover of it when he's only actually in the first episode, which isn't even supposed to be on this season, it was the finale of the fourth season, turns this from a decent last season of a good show into a blatant and shameless marketing ploy that robs most, if not all, of the integrity from it. They put it on here to appeal to the vast multitude of Depp fans out there so they'd buy it. If you're buying this cause you love Johnny, then don't. Its a complete marketing scam and the scum bags that did it should be ashamed. If you love the series, then it would probably be worth it. IF you like the series, then I'd give it three or four stars instead.

4.0 out of 5 stars You be the judge...., July 13 2008
This review is from: 21 Jump Street S5 Comp (DVD)
If you are buying this season to see Johnny Depp then STOP. Not worth it. You can probably catch his last episode entitled "Blackout" on youtube for free. If you actually like 21 Jump Street then this season may be for you. I probably would not have liked it had I not heard Peter DeLuise's audio commentary in season 2. After I heard it, I had a whole new appreciation for him and the other members of Jump Street (Holly Robinson & Steven Williams and eventually Michael Bendetti) which made this season more appealable. The first 3 episodes (including Johnny's) were from the 4th season and placed on this season's DVD. Blackout was ok...but the other two were BAD...really really BAD. Who were these new people anyway? Once the fifth season started I was happy to see Peter DeLuise...he kept me interested in watching it. Then his brother came on (who incedently leaves on the eposide entitled Coppin Out) and I was again intrigued. Then I find out that Peter is leaving in the Number One with a Bullet episdoe. Again, I thought what's the point of watching the rest? Then...like a superhero, Peter does 2 more episodes with audio commentary and I am again pulled into the show. He talks about his choice to leave, his brothers appearance and how Michael Bendetti did such a good job in what would seem to be hard times. He did have to fill big shoes, and I feel he did. When it comes to the last few episodes and it's only Holly, Michael, and Steven...well...you realize just how dedicated they were to stay and how they never let their personal feelings about the show being cancelled show through in their work. By the last episode (called Second Chance) I was wishing they had picked up another actor and did another season. I also wish the final episode was a little more "final" then just another good episode. All in all...you will have to make your own judgement. If all you care about is Johnny...watch the audio commentary in the second season...if still all you care about is Johnny, don't get this season...if you end up being like me and loving the program even though he's not on it, then this season is just as good. Hope this helps!

3.0 out of 5 stars Completely Depp-less season, Feb 1 2006
By tex42 - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: 21 Jump Street S5 Comp (DVD)
It should first be noted that Johnny Depp is not a member of the cast of 21 Jump Street during the 5th Season. He left the show after the 4th season. The show was then cancelled by Fox and was produced for one more season in syndication. The only reason Depp was included on the cover of this season set was because "Blackout", a 4th Season episode, was held back from the 4th Season DVD Set for this one. So be forewarned when buying this set that Depp appears in only one episode, and following that he and Dustin Nguyen leave the show, followed soon after by Peter DeLuise. Only Holly Robinson and Steven Williams remain from the original cast. Michael DeLuise joins the cast for a bit as Joey Penhall and Michael Bendetti joins the cast as Tony "Mac" McCann. The formula of the show largely remains the same, though the show's production values descrease with the move to syndication, and the cutting of the budget per episode. This was not a bad season, as per usual with this series, some storylines were weaker than others, but overall the season is entertaining, with Holly Robinson being the focus of most of the episodes, especially after Peter DeLuise and Michael DeLuise leave. However, again let me just repeat that Johnny Depp appears in only one episode and buyers of this set should know that, so there is no confusion on this matter.

1.0 out of 5 stars GREED, GREED, GREED!!, April 12 2006
By Sheryl Marcy "deppfan306" - Published on Amazon.com

What a blatantly sleazy way to get Depp fans to buy this last season. What a marketing strategy! They must think the buying public is stupid! In spite of the one episode "Blackout" that Hanson is in (from season 4), I tried to watch the rest of the shows, and it felt like so much was missing. Ioki was gone too, and it just wasn't the same. They should have just renamed the show as a spinoff. Nope. Just wasn't the same.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cheap in more ways than one, Mar 21 2006
By KnightVoyager - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: 21 Jump Street S5 Comp (DVD)
The biggest problem I have with season 5 is that ALL 4 of the other seasons were done on single-sided discs with nice cover art, and on this one, they took the cheap road out with double-sided discs, which are more prone to disc errors. BOOOOO! They should have held the consistency throughout the series rather than just slipshod this one together the way they did. It's nice that the series is complete, but they really should have done a much better job putting this set together.
