In less than twenty-four hours, in a palatial hideaway in the mountains of Colorado, a group of America's most powerful industrialists will be gathering for their annual summit. The bizarre disappearance of all the members of a local crackpot cult—and of two ATF agents assigned to keep an eye on them—may have no connection whatsoever to the impending high-powered conference. But with so many corporate titans grouped together in one location, CTU can't afford to take chances.
Sent to investigate, Jack Bauer is immediately plunged into a maelstrom of treachery, terror, and slaughter as he uncovers clues to a devastating conspiracy that could leave America's most essential institutions in ruins. And now the rogue CTU operative has only hours to prevent the unthinkable—before the relentlessly approaching storm of blood and fire rocks his nation to its foundations.

New and exciting Jack Bauer tales,
By
This review is from: 24 Declassified: Head Shot (Mass Market Paperback)
Set in Colorado this book is substantively different from anything seen in the show or other books. It suffers from the same problem as all of the other books, namely the dialogue for Jack never sounding quite like what he would say on the show or in the way that he would say it. That aside the story is riveting, unique, and ultimately very satisfying

Not again...,

Once again David Jacobs had to make up one of Jack's longest days. And once again I did not like it. Like "Storm Force" (his first try) this novel can`t match with the ones from Whitman and Cerasini. There is no feeling of a ticking clock (Jacobs isn`t even trying to let it tick at all except for every whole hour), only one main plot and things like flash-backs (never seen one before in now almost seven whole days). He even tries to reinvent or augment Jack's character with attributes like fear or nervousness. For example Jack runs away one time and leaves all of his fellow agents to die. He later on justifies this like a little kid (But there was nothing else I could do, Mom...).Still this novel is a bit better than Jacobs first try at 24, so I give it 2 stars (his first one deserving zero). 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful

Yes, its the second try by david jacobs. Its !@#$%. I have the whole 24 book series, its the worse ever. If the publisher reads this, please dont allow him to write 24 anymore. first, storm force, then this headshot. I would rather put a gun on my head and have a headshot myself, its better than read the @#$%^& book like this. An utter waste of time and money.[

Jacobs doesn't know Jack,
By slomobile - Published on Amazon.com

It's nothing new that fans do not like this Jacobs fellow writing Jack stories. He obviously does not know his character or audience. I am less worried about how bad his writing is, and more concerned about how it will influence 24 book sales and therefore the publisher's willingness to continue the franchise in print media. I am with other reviewers that this book was slightly better than Jacobs first attempt, and therefore will give it one star for his effort and one star just for having Jack.
