5.0 out of 5 stars Nice, but doesn't look galvanized. Oct. 5 2011

I used this on my chicken coop. Although the description states "Galvanized before welding", the wire did not have the traditional matte galvanized appearance of mesh I purchase at the local hardware store. It has a very bright finish. Since I live near the ocean, I painted it all with enamel paint to retard oxidation. This was a pain and may have been overkill.

The wire is heavy gauge and I didn't have any welds break while I was cutting and bending.

If the fencing really was galvanized, and hold up to the elements, I'd give it 5 stars, but if it's a rusty mess in a year, I'd give it only 3.

Update: It has been 17 months and it still looks good. Not rust at all. This may have been because I painted it, but I will probably buy more soon. I'll give it 5 stars as it looks like it is holding up well and has kept anything from eating my chickens.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok for rabbit cages but July 16 2013

Bought to make all wire rabbit cages. The quality of the wire seems fine, no broken welds or anything like that. Not sure if its really galvanized as i haven't had the cages in the weather yet. The wire gauge is a little thin for all wire cages, next time I will look harder for 14 ga. wire. I think they will hold up to rabbits 10 lbs and under.

5.0 out of 5 stars This worked great Dec 19 2012

I had been buying hardware cloth in local hardware stores (Home depot and Lowes), but their price continued to increase, and the stuff was really hard to work with, so I thought I would give Amazon a chance to compete, and ordered this product from them. I was happy to discover that it was 100% easier to work with, and to cut to the sizes I needed, and since I had PRIME, (it got here in 2 days free shipping. When I totaled the cost of the mesh from the hardware stores, and the gas i needed to go get it, Amazon won the purchase, and saved me a buck or two,) as well as being very strong. I used it, to put around various places on the mobile chicken coops I had built, to keep the varmints out of the coop, and protect my chickens. It works great. I was so happy with it, that I ordered another one for another coop I had built. When I got the second one, I discovered it was not 1/2 inch hole size, but 1 inch instead. That was no big deal, so I just kept it and used it, but I would recommend that if you order it for a specific project, make sure it will work for that project when you get it. The larger holes that came in my second order, was OK for my use, no varmints were going to get through the 1 inch holes, so I had no problem.

4.0 out of 5 stars Makeshift Cage Top Oct. 11 2013

I have a large oddly shaped cage for my sugar gliders. The top of it hung over the sides about three inches on EACH side. I was running out of room to place the cage and been trying to figure out how to make shift my own flat top. This did the trick!!! I just cut the pieces, used wire clips to put pieces together, and hammered it around the lip of the cage so it wont come up. Now my gliders have more cage to climb on since the old top was flat and they could not climb on it. The only problem I have with it is that some of the pieces were not welded nicely together so I had to use more clips to fasten them together. Which was annoying since I did not have the right tool for it :P
3.0 out of 5 stars A few slightly bent spots and a broken weld Feb. 3 2014

I was a bit surprised when I started to unravel this product and found a few slightly bent spots. I only found one broken weld on the whole 25 feet which isn't too bad. I not so sure this product is galvanized and if it is, then it is most likely pre-weld galvanized because the welds definitely are not. Overall a good product. I used it for my rabbit hutches and it holds up much better than hardware cloth. If you staple down properly there is hardly any flex.
