On 2 March 1998 ten-year-old Natascha Kampusch was snatched off the street by a stranger and bundled into a white van. Hours later she found herself in a dark cellar, wrapped in a blanket. When she emerged eight years later, her childhood had gone. great book !! doesn't skip over that much time and leaves in significant details. Much like the Jaycee Dugard story but longer and more detailed.

I think people are forgetting that this is a memoir, not crime fiction! She wrote it as part of her healing process, not to satisfy those people out there who are looking for first hand accounts of child sexual abuse.This woman is intelligent, resourceful, educated (against all odds), and well spoken. I would recommend it to anyone with a genuine interest in memoirs written by victims of crime.
