5.0 out of 5 stars Think you're a beginner? Then start here... Jan 24 2005
By C. W. Hitchcock Jr. - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I have played this instrument for over forty years...and still consider myself a "beginner". Why? Because even after private lessons at the University of Cinicinnati Conservatory and playing pieces which one would call "advanced", I still realize that some of the simplest, and most elegant, pieces are the best. Order this book without reservation and if there should be any detractors to this review, please be assured that those folks are simply "legends in their own minds." Learn these beautiful pieces and you will have a wonderful repertoire upon which to build. Go for it...and I look forward to your recital.

5.0 out of 5 stars The one I always pick Jun 6 2010
By Laura - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I have been playing guitar for about six years now, but I am still a beginner. It just doesn't come easy for me. Anyway, I love this book. When I first got this book I could only play a few of the pieces. But there are really good songs in here for the very beginner. I actually sounded good even though the songs were easy. As I improved I could play more and more of the songs. This book kept challenging me because it has pieces from the rank amature level up to the beginning intermediate player's level. Most importantly, the audio CD that comes with this is awesome. It allowed me to work on my timing and to hear what the songs should sound like. When I got good enough with a song, I could play along with the CD to see if my timing was right! Even though I own six or seven guitar books, this is the one I use almost every time I play.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful May 2 2010
By J. Joyner - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I purchased this book because I am a beginning classical guitar student and use it to augment my more 'technical' work with scales and notation. The pieces are beautiful and the CD is great quality (good just for listening as well). Highly recommended.
