Flakey power cord,

My Kindle is two years old and today I noticed the flakey insulation on my power cord. I immediately contacted Amazon and they said that they had a bad batch of cords (now fixed) and very quickly credited my account for a new one. Their customer service was amazing! My rating here is obviously for their dealing honestly and quickly to the problem, not for the original defective cord.

I noticed my power cord was falling apart so I looked to see about getting a new one and like many others, this is a known issue. All I had to do was call Kindle customer service (1-866-321-8851) and they are shipping a new one out to me right away. Great customer service and free shipping (because I have Amazon Prime).

From the first time I plugged my original power adapter into my Kindle, it seated loosely. I assumed it was a problem on the Kindle side and considered returning it for an exchange, but I didn't want to wait for the replacement. It lasted about two years, then would no longer charge. I was not looking forward to paying for a whole new Kindle, so I contacted Amazon.com's Help department. They suggested replacing the adapter, and, although very skeptical, I agreed to it. Because there were none in stock & there would be a moderately long wait for more, the Amazon.com people benevolently offered to give me a credit for the adapter & shipping as an apology. Not only was the wait shorter than expected, I got the replacement adapter free of charge, and it took care of my problem, as well! I can't say enough about how great my experience was with this company -- the customer service was so far above & beyond what you find anywhere else today!
