5.0 out of 5 stars Love to Sew April 11 2013
By Me TOP 500 REVIEWER

This is a terrific machine. It sews perfectly, and is so quiet. I have used many types of fabric and it sews everything beautifully. I have started to teach my 7 year old granddaughter how to sew, and this is the perfect machine for that. It has a control where I can adjust the speed of the "gas" peddle.

It is easy to sew my "scant" quarter inch seams for quilting . It has many needle positions, not like my old machine that had three. This enables me to adjust the position of the needle, so I can sew exactly where I want, not being bothered by bulk or other conditions. The machine handles quilting beautifully.

The variety of stitches and the options of stitch lengths and widths provide endless variety in your sewing projects.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great machine for great price Sept. 26 2013

Comparing what you get with this machine vs others this one wins hands down. I wasn't sure I would need all the stitches but now that I have the option I find myself trying out various stitches. I love that the length and width can be changed. Everything about this machine is easy, the threading, bobbin, sewing, choosing stitches, finishing the stitch. The ability to choose the stop position is wonderful as well. It came with so many feet and bobbins that I'm ready to go for any project. Great sewing machine!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Sewing Machine I've Ever Owned Nov. 10 2013
Verified Purchase
One of my favorite things about this machine is how easy it is to control. When I'm sewing a difficult fabric such as a very thin knit, this machine can go as slow as I want, with smooth stops and starts. I've tried it on many different types of fabric and it handled them all with ease, the bulky hems of demin presented no problems. I love the needle threading feature.
Threading the sewing machine is so easy, as well as threading the bobbin. I have tested a few of the decorative stitches and they worked perfectly. The machine automatically selects the proper thread tension and stitch lenght for each sewing pattern, which is brilliant, but it is very easy to manually change. There is a DVD included and although I've been sewing for over 30 years I found some very helpful information in it. It's worth watching. I am so glad I bought this sewing machine. I was convinced to buy it because of all the positive reveiws.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Sewing Machine for the Beginner Jan. 12 2014

I've never sewn anything in my life. I actually bought this machine as a Christmas gift for my wife who is also a non-sewer. After watching a few youtube videos and reading the supplied instructions I successfully hemmed 12 pairs of pants in an afternoon. The week after I repaired a mitten and a tear in my daughter's backpack. I am somewhat mechanically inclined as I build my own furniture and do my own motorcycle repairs but it was pretty straight forward. I have no intention of making clothes but we have always wanted a machine a round the house to do alterations and repairs. We have three young kids so there is always something that needs mending. I bought this model after doing quite a bit of searching on the web. Since buying it we have purchased a carrying case and some thread. Don't buy dollar store thread, spend a few cents more and get a name brand.

5.0 out of 5 stars So far, so good! Nov. 20 2013
Verified Purchase
I've always owned a Singer sewing machine and when my 30 year old machine's plastic gears broke and I found out how much it would cost to fix them, I started my search for a new machine. I really don't sew that much anymore but I decided that I wanted a computerized machine with a few fancy stitches (just in case I decide to get back into sewing a little more). I had my sights on a Brother machine but then I came across this one - it had a lot of positive reviews, all the features that I wanted and was cheaper than the Brother and had free shipping! I haven't used it a whole lot yet but so far I'm really loving it. It was easy to set up and thread although I haven't yet figured out how to use the automatic needle threader. (I think that will be my favorite feature once I get the hang of it). I'm really looking forward to trying out the buttonholer - it looks much easier than my old machine. My daughters are starting to take up quilting so I'm planning on letting them borrow my machine for any fancy stitches they might need to do. Who knows...maybe I'll decide to make a quilt too!

3.0 out of 5 stars Singer 7258 sewing machine Oct. 16 2013

The sewing machine runs good and I Iike the computerized stitching.
My Futura Singer machine is over 40 years old and I can see that
the new one has more plastic parts and it makes me a bit concerned
especially the cover for the bobbin. The horizontal holder for the thread
does not seem solid when the spool is in place. The light is not near as
bright as my old machine and the lines for seam width are very hard
to follow. Over all though the machine is perfect for the amount of sewing
I do at this stage of my life. I will probably do more small projects.
