Review

"Hutchins is the real deal -- 7th Son's opening XX pages hammer you with literary shock and awe. Effortlessly blending hard research with a staggering imagination, his high-tech nightmares leap off the page and lodge in your brain like a literary headshot. Raw, brilliant and detailed."  - Scott Sigler, author of Infected

“J. C. Hutchins takes the science thriller and pumps it full of rocket fuel in 7th Son: Descent.  It has weird science, convoluted conspiracies, plenty of action, and a very creepy premise that will leave you paranoid and shaken."

---Jonathan Maberry, multiple Bram Stoker Award--winning author of The Dragon Factory and Patient Zero

“7th Son is breakneck storytelling at its absolute best. Characters---dark, duplicitous, and fascinating---stalk through a rich techscape that’s so real, so plausible, that it compels and haunts. The book is relentless in its pace, brilliant in its execution, and just so damned entertaining.”

---Patrick Lussier, director of White Noise 2, Dracula 2000, and film editor of Red Eye

(part of the Scream trilogy)

“Not only does J. C. Hutchins put together a great story with 7th Son, he’s successfully cracked the code of building a loyal following.”

---Michael A. Stackpole, New York Times bestselling author

Product Description

As America reels from the bizarre presidential assassination committed by a child, seven men are abducted from their normal lives and delivered to a secret government facility. Each man has his own career, his own specialty. All are identical in appearance. The seven strangers were grown--- unwitting human clones---as part of a project called 7th Son.

The government now wants something from these “John Michael Smiths.” They share the flesh as well as the implanted memories of the psychopath responsible for the president's murder. The killer has bigger plans, and only these seven have the unique qualifications to track and stop him. But when their progenitor makes the battle personal, it becomes clear he may know the seven better than they know themselves.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good read, Nov 5 2009

This review is from: 7th Son: Descent (Paperback)
You will meet seven regular guys with diverse lives who are uprooted from those lives and faced with the fact that they are all clones with implanted memories... all cloned from the same man.

They now have a new mission: stop that Original, John Alpha, from reeking havoc on the the world and the program that made him. Since they came from him, they are the best equipped to stop him.

The tension, the heart stopping action, and the interesting psychological differences of the clones made this one of my favorite books to date.

This book is part of a trilogy (7th Son: Descent, 7th Son: Deceit, 7th Son: Destruction). You will be on the edge of your seat waiting for 7th Son: Deceit.

J. C. Hutchins has done a fantastic job. The highest praise I can I can give to a book:

It's a GOOD read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Forget what you think you know..., Nov 13 2009
This review is from: 7th Son: Descent (Paperback)
JC's solo debut novel is a wild ride from cover to cover. The story line has been tightened up from the original podcast version, and with the book, JC doesn't get to cliffhanger you every week, just at the end of the book.

The story will grab a hold of you and take you into the depths of "Code Phantom" in the ultimate story of nature vs. nurture.

Worth every single penny, and I hope the other two books in the series also get published!

5.0 out of 5 stars 7th Son is Amazing! Don't read my review -Read the book!, Nov 10 2009

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: 7th Son: Descent (Paperback)
This was the first book of JC Hutchins that I was exposed to and it got me hooked on his work. I originally listened to it as a podcast and would be waiting eagerly for the next episode to be available.

The amount of detail that JC puts into his writing makes you see the places and people he describes and sucks you in like you are there.

The story starts off with a great hook "President killed by a child... 7 men abducted and delivered to a secret government facility...all are identical in appearance...unwitting human clones...part of a project called 7th Son."

I mean if that doesn't excite you - what else could?

This story challenges your intellect to see if you can puzzle out the clues before the clones can, and actually makes care about the outcome of the clones and the world itself.

JC Hutchins has developed such individualized personalities, histories, and attitudes for the 7 clones that although being from the same basic stock, are fully developed characters in their own right. Any one of them could stand alone.

My greatest enjoyment was waiting to see how the clones would use their talents together to defeat John Alpha.

Of course John Alpha is not one to be easily defeated...
