Bianca and her band have perfectly captured the intimate immediacy of a late night session at a Parisian jazz club. You can hear in the almost telepathic communication between these skilled musicians their joy in the songs they play and in playing them together. And what of Bianca's voice? Quite simply: Astonishing. By turns bold and seductive, she effortlessly captures the meaning in every lyric and yet is able to make each song her own. I haven't heard a voice so rich and powerful singing jazz before. Her lounging-on-the-piano rendition of "Quand tu dors pres de moi"--with intricate accompaniment on the ivories by Ian Clyne--at the end of the disc is also a nice touch.
