3.0 out of 5 stars Horsez, 3rd in the Pippa Funnell Series Sep 14 2010
By DS
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
This was the third in the Pippa Funnell Horse Gaming series, Each of of the games has a few names which is usually why there is so much confusion as to what to call it, All of the games that are currently released are below:

Pippa Funnell 1: The Stud Farm Inheritance (Saddle Up with Pippa)
Pippa Funnell 2: Takes the Reins (Champion Dreams: First to Ride)
Pippa Funnell 3: The Golden Stirrups Challenge (Horsez)
Pippa Funnell 4: Secrets of the Ranch (Horsez 2)
Pippa Funnell 5: Ranch Rescue (Petz Horse Club)

If you are just looking for a game to groom horses and race, This isn't quite what you are looking for, It's really an adventure of a girl named Flora and a continuation of the story of a girl named Jade. Which was good for me because I personally prefer an adventure game to a game that has no story to it and just challenges. Although this game was fun and had lot's of challenges in it, I can't say it was wholly something that parents would fine unobjectionable...

For instance, Some of the objectionable parts in the game were:

At one point in the storyline Jade used a walkie-talkie to send a police man somewhere because he was blocking her way, This wasn't showing respect for the law and could teach kids that police can get in the way and they shouldn't obey law.

and at another point in the story Jade wants to go to a rock concert (By the way the poster and ticket for the rock concert have a picture of the most horrid looking Halloween type Frankenstein monster and the name of the rock group is "Bloodflowers") but when tickets are all sold-out, Flora asks her why she is upset and Jade tells her about this rock concert she wanted to go to, But has no ticket, Then Flora says that the ticket is of easy to get materials and would be easy to forge, Although they go through a lot of work to forge it in the end someone gives them a ticket instead. But just the fact that they were about to do it and supposedly could have gotten away with it does not show respect for the law.

Another thing was that near the end when Flora is about to do the last Competition she is doing it for a lot the wrong reasons, She wants quote "Revenge" on her enemy instead of just wanting to bring buisness and sucess to her friends and their academy.

So although this game was exciting and a fun horse and adventure game these minor points in the game may teach bad morals, So if you ignore some minor things in the game you will probably find this an exciting and fun horse game.

1.0 out of 5 stars IMisleading packaging July 10 2007

This is *not* a horse riding and care game. It's a linear adventure game about people at a riding academy for preteens and older kids who really like horses. I never got very far in this game (I was trying to figure it out for my daughter). I gave up in disgust very early because the interface was very hard for me to figure out and the manual was of no help.

I suspect the preteen girl crowd would enjoy this game if it ran correctly, but the box is horribly misleading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Confusion. Jun 23 2007

I personally find the packaging for this game also very confusing.

Firstly let me state that Horsez for both P.C. and for PSX2 (since they ARE two totally different games/character sets, one about Jade and the other about Flora) are my hands down favorite horse games that I have ever found. I was SO impressed when I started playing it that I bought the other and have loved them both endlessly since.

Whats so CONFUSING to me is their description (talking about picking a cute pony and playing with an adorable foal!? Huh? Did you actually..you know..PLAY this game, Mr. Advertiser?) and box art is..incredibly misleading. This is bad not only because it LOOKs like a young childrens game and you don't get that when you buy this game, and also because its kind of embarrassing to show your friends this awesome horse game..in a box that looks like it was designed for six year olds...so I'm positive that a large crowd of people that would LOVE this game have never tried it.

Overall..wonderful game, one of the best out there. BUT Very poor advertising decisions. I hope this will help you to know who to buy this game for and who not to- as the packaging/description is completely wrong.

1.0 out of 5 stars Ugh. July 1 2007

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. Yes, the graphics are pretty. Yes, its a "cool horse game."
But it is VERY difficult. NOT for who they market it too. I'm a horse game nerd and I can't even get past the first week. Why? Because the glitches in the game make it almost impossible to do, the graphics are so much it slows down even the fastest computers and the writers expect you to be pyscic when you go on your games. Wayy to hard for anyone, and frusterating as well.
