Perfectly good serial adapter for a very good price, These also have nice long usb tails, so you have a bit more length to them than some.

Works fantasticly with OpenBSD, FreeBSD, various Loonixen, Mac and Windows without any undue stupidity.

Tried with Windows 7, I get a yellow exclamation mark in Device Manager. If you go to the Prolific brand website (which this cable claims to be) it says that knock off bootleg cables give the yellow exclamation mark.

I have another Prolific USB to RS232 cable that works fine with the same laptop, but this was from a more reputable dealer.

If I could give 0 stars I would.
As this was such a cheap cable its not worth returning it as postage would be more than the cost of the item, a total rip off product.

For the price, I was ready to try the device with Windows 7. The mini CD comes with drivers for Vista. Windows 7 uses those drivers. Unfortunately, my device receives gibberish with Windows 7. I first thought my configuration (bauds, ...) was not correct, but everything was setup according to my device's specifications. I still receive unreadable text, while the data sent is fully readable. It might work with Windows XP, I have yet to find a PC with that on...

Product didn't work for my needs.

Could have been the use though. Tried to connect an old serial "address book" using their proprietary cable to this serial cable to the pc's usb...

Couldn't find it! Oh well... I'll try it again. I like having cable options. :-)
