A LITE & ENGAGING COZY MYSTERYAug. 1 2013

Format: Kindle Edition
Family affair is the sequel to the debut novel Death Warmed Over. Although, IMO, not as good as the first book it is still full of sass, humor, warmth, PG-14 romance and an over indulgence in sweets. The mystery itself while not complex or thrilling is still entertaining.
In this book, adorable plus sized Hannah and her cherub of a six year old daughter get to marry Will the man of their dreams and who is also county sheriff. Hannah is running her increasingly successful dream business but stll finds time for sleuthing with her partner in crime solving the elderly Evelyn Case. Both are driven by their love of mystery novels. The case of who done it still gets solved despite the bungeling of the latter would be crime solvers. However, the antics inbetween the big reveal make it an engaging read. The story is told from Hannah's perspective but the author's style makes you feel like you and Hannah are discussing events over lemon squares and tea. I simple love lemon squares. Hannah, as well as, all the residents of Destiny, TX are relatable and believable characters. Hannah does mentions when she and Will have a good time under, on top of or inbetween the proverbial sheets but there are NO graphic live scenes. I have no problems with graphic love scenes but ther are just none in this series. :-)
I would suggest reading the first book prior to this one for a greater appreciation of this one. I am assuming that this was orginally planned as a continuing series, however, this was the last book sold on amazon and the author's email address at the end of this book is no longer valid. It's a shame too b/c I would have loved to have read more about Hannah and her adventures in her home town of Destiny , TX. Readers who like cozy mystery and don't mind the story being a little lite on mystery but loaded with charm, wit, humor, romance and sass should definitely checkout this book. I am actually quite shocked that there aren't any other reviews and that this little gem of a series has apparently been overlooked. I'm certainly glad that I stumbled upon it. So come on to Destiny and sit a spell!!! Buy it, Read it; Enjoy.
