This is one of those movies you love to watch every year, helping to set a festive, feel-good mood for the season. Just the right combination of comfort and challenge to make one thankful and desirous of helping someone less fortunate this season. A staple in our collection.

I liked this movie when I watched it years ago and it's still good now. The characters are quirky and the setting is rustic, perfect for an old fashioned Christmas.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Family Christmas Movie! Oct. 19 2011

A really nice, feel-good movie that deals with some very serious issues in a heart warming way. The actors work beautifully together. I didn't realize Randy Travis could act but he does a lovely job!!! It's fun to see Rue in a role that isn't Blanchesque....she's spirited, kicky and even grandmotherly at the same time! Connie does a enchanting job as the mom and the children are marvelous.

3.0 out of 5 stars no sizzle Oct. 31 2013

This might be considered a good "family" movie, but for us, it just didn't hit the mark. The actors were ho-hum in their roles, even exaggerated and ridiculous at times. There's nothing to warn about, just an observation that many family movies are much better. The storyline was so non-engaging with those of us who watched it, I really can't say I remember much about it. I wouldn't recommend it.
