“Frost is a splendid creation, a cross between Rumpole and Colombo.” —The Times

Product Description

A gripping new investigation for the inimitable Detective Inspector Jack Frost.

The discovery of the bodies of two young girls leaves D.I. Jack Frost in a race to hunt down the killer before he, or she, can strike again. At the same time, he faces a crisis at Denton police station which could result in his being sacked.

Jack Frost, brought to magnificent life by David Jason in the TV series, staggers from crisis to crisis, his bumbling modus operandus disguising his extraordinary powers of detection.

4.0 out of 5 stars The final Frost, Feb 26 2010
By JoeV "Reader" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: A Killing Frost (Hardcover)
This is the sixth, (and also the last - the author passed away in 2007), D.I. Frost mystery. Frost is a rumpled, chain-smoking, booze-guzzling, profane detective on the Denton, (England), police force - and bears more than a passing resemblance to Superintendant Andrew Dalziel of Reginald Hill's series - although Andy is a tad more cerebral. The Frost books are non-stop express rides with our protagonist missing meals and sleep while chasing the loose ends of a half-dozen capers - all the while avoiding his superiors and paperwork.

This book fits that mold with Frost "investigating" the disappearance of three local teens, a blackmail scheme targeting a local supermarket chain and an international child pornography ring simultaneously - while dodging a new boss who is attempting to have him transferred. No Sherlock Holmes puzzles with well thought out deductions here but still an enjoyable read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read, Aug 28 2010

the Frost series is wonderful, and each book is better than the next. Unfortunately this is the last book in the series, but also the best. The ending is (perhaps) a little weak, but the book as a whole is excellent. If you like this series at all, this is a "must have" book.

R.D. Wingfield is one of my favorite authors. A Killing Frost like all of his Frost series is great reading. I look forward to his next book.
