Milly Johnson is a Sunday Times top ten bestseller, poet, columnist, joke-writer, radio presenter-in-training and winner of Come Dine With Me. She likes cruising on big ships, owls, Pellers Ice Wine, shopping for handbags in Venice, Ikea meatballs, the sea and having her hair done. She hates marzipan, doing accounts and sandpaper. Her characters are so well developed, her stories flow effortlessly and the tension ramps up and keeps you reading. I was hooked on this story immediately and could not put the book down and read it in 3 days. This book even had me clearing out clutter almost as soon as I had begun the reading it (and this is not something I'm very good at). My only complaint is that it kept me up late three nights in a row so I was half asleep while reading it and I was upset that it ended so quickly!
I can't wait to read more of her novels and my last complaint is that they take 1-2 months to order from Amazon Canada (but it is WELL worth the wait) and I'm glad I requested two of her books from a visiting friend, but I'm sure this will change as Milly Johnson gains international notoriety for her fantastic stories.

There were aspects of the book that bothered me (e.g, for way too long, she goes along w/ some less than savory actions on the part of others in her life), but her story is so good that somehow I can overlook it. All in all, fantastic plot, interesting looks at friendships between women, and something I love in a book -- wonderful, but realistic transformation of the main character! I was thoroughly transported and am so sad not to have more to read.
If you're into books of this genre, I would highly recommend this one!
Cant wait for her next book due later this month.
Throughout this book Lou not only clears the "material" clutter, but relationship and friendship clutters as well. The characters are instantly lovable and relateable. You will find yourself rooting for all of Milly JOhnson's heroines. PLEASE Buy this book!!! It's awesome, awesome.
Lou, having endured years of put-downs and manipulation by her husband, Phil, comes across a magazine article which advises woman how to clean out the junk of years. At first, Lou doesn't want to think about it, but finds herself quietly tearing the article out of the magazine and taking it home with her.
Small things make larger things - and Lou, beginning with a cutlery drawer soon becomes gripped by ambition. Over a period of weeks, the whole house gets cleaned of everything unnecessary, as Lou begins to stand up for herself. Finally she is forced to face up to what she has allowed Phil to do to her and take the necessary action to deal with it.
How Lou meets her soul mate and clears out her most difficult piece of junk comprises the traditional plot. However, Ms Johnson has imbued this work with a sparkle and charm all its own.
I had great pleasure in reading this book in one sitting and it helps if one suffers from insomnia!!!
