From Library Journal
Moses, former editor of American Movie Classics (AMC) magazine, guides the reader through 4500 classic Hollywood films made between 1929 and 1979, with brief plot synopses, credits, ratings, running times, and 100 photos. A few non-Hollywood films are included, but Moses generally chooses those films likely to be featured on the AMC Network. Those familiar with the television network will see the same intelligence and critical eye in every entry in this volume. The "classic" tag separates this volume from the numerous other movie guides currently available, although the Time Out Film Guide (Penguin, 1998. 7th ed.), with over 12,000 international films, and VideoHound's Golden Movie Retriever 1999 (LJ 12/98), with more than 22,000 films, give better value.
