My primary attraction to this product was the coaxial tv antenna protection. The product seems to be built soundly. All outlets worked, there are tons of them. The plug in cord was nice and heavy. I was pleasantly suprised that it came with a high quality 36" patch cable the TV antenna hookup, and I think a phone patch cable too. The instructions say not to run a satellite hookup through the coaxial input. I saw no information about that prior to purchase, so be aware this is useless for a digital dish type of signal. The one con I have is that it seemes to have caused a VERY SLIGHT loss of tv antenna signal. For one TV channel I rarely experienced frozen moments or signal loss, but immediately after hookup I now have occasional problems with that one channel. It is a fringe channel for me, but none the less, the signal seems to be reduced, therefor I took one star off the rating. I did not purchase the extended warranty with my plasma TV, so I am counting on this product to hopefully help me out with power or lightening issues.

APC poor quality - its not like the APC of the past, Aug 21 2011

This unit arrived and I immediately stated to use it - big mistake. The receptacles on the unit did not tightly accept plugs and it shorted out my Sony picture frame immmediately. When I checked everything out, I was surprised at the fact that this surge protector was in fact a destructive device that could distroy your electronics.
I called APC and was further shocked (pardon the pun). The fellow from the Phillipines (where their call center is and where this unit was manufactered) immediately told me that it was a Pirated Unit or it was a used unit. He tried to disclaim APC's responsibility. To make a long story short, I had to show it was APC's problem by the MFG date, serial no.and the inspection form inside the instructions.
I am sure that my unit is defective and others may not have this problem; but, beware of the slipshod quality, the damage it could do and the attitude of APC to help its customers.

If you are looking at the APC 11 Outlet Surge Suppressor for a home entertainment center, or your home/office Computer Center, then take a good look at what sets the standard for a Surge Suppressor. If you have ever tried plugging 3 AC/DC converter bricks in a 6 outlet power strip, you understand why the six correctly spaced power outlets (3 on each side), is well thought out. Add the five standard plug outlets down the center, and everything works on one power strip. Besides a power surge coming thru your electrical outlet, Broadband comes in thru cable, and DSL thru your phone line. This Suppressor keeps power surges from coming in thru the backdoor, to ruin your equipment, with connectors for both. The difference between the cheapy surge suppressors and this one, is the warranty on the Suppressor itself, AND what is plugged into it, up to $100,000. When the power surge blows the cheapy suppressors, they have already passed the surge thru to what is plugged into it. If this APC Supressor fails to stop the surge, they will replace everything plugged into it, and the Supressor. Don't forget to register it, WHEN you purchase, either by enclosed post card, or online. Remember, the cheapy ones don't provide that warranty on the products plugged in, for a reason. The cheapy ones dont work... and while I call them cheapy, some are actually rather expensive. I have worked with APC backup power supplys that protect against brown outs, and line surges for 20 years, and find this product to be the same construction and quality. I bought two. One for my Computer Center, and one for the Home Entertainment Center. Excellent value!
