Stylish, fast, capable machine -- for the first month. Then it began freezing within a few minutes of being booted up. I sent it back to be repaired, waited nearly two weeks, and got it back -- only to have it freeze again within an hour of use. Pushing the power button resulted in nothing more than a black screen. Come to find out, all the "repair" people did was reinstall Windows, even though the tech rep I spoke with told me he thought the hard drive was corrupt.
I waited two more weeks for repairs. The new tech guy I spoke with blamed "product shortages" for the delay. I told him that excuse was a joke for a company as sophisticated as ASUS to wait two weeks for parts to a mass-produced computer. The machine came back today with several scratches, but at least it started. We'll see how long it lasts this time before freezing or something else goes wrong.
Whatever you do, avoid this machine. I've been without the computer for a month, and paid over $70 in shipping costs. I'm disgusted with ASUS's quality and its customer service. Unless this time their repair job makes the machine last forever, I'll never buy another ASUS product of any kind. You shouldn't either.
EDIT 2/6/12: Since receiving the machine back several months ago, I have been at least moderately satisfied.
EDIT 4/18/12: I have deleted the previous edit suggesting that the problem was fixed, because it has not been.
EDIT: 6/4/12 About three weeks ago, ASUS finally recognized what I started telling them months ago -- that the computer I received was a lemon and needed to be replaced. So, they sent me a new machine, which was the only thing they could have done to get me to stop my campaign to convince everyone I meet never to buy another of their products. So far, the new machine has worked, but then, I've only had it three weeks.
