This is a nice and inexpensive unit, much cheaper than what is currently available in the same category of products here in amazon.ca (when compared to products like Western Digital TV Live or Patriot Box Office it's really cheaper).
I like the size (very small), and the esthetics.
Connection was a breeze, I had it running in seconds. It played all of my media files so far: AVI, MKV, MP4. I like that it detects subtitles at once, provided that the name of the file containing the subtitles is exactly the same as the name of the media file. Careful, it will NOT play all types of subtitle formats. But with TXT or SRT subtitles, you'll be just fine.
The remote is ok, nothing too fancy, and compared to other reviewers, it works very well when pointed more or less in the direction of the unit. The only thing is that browsing through the playlist is a bit slow. It can be very frustrating if you keep a lot of stuff in your USB flash drive. The solution: keep less stuff in there, and delete files after watching; or, easier, you can sort your media files by "most recent", therefore at the top of your list you will always see the latest files you have added, and so browsing through your playlist will be much improved this way.
Picture quality using an HDMI cable is quite good, no disapointment there whatsoever.
Sound is also fine, but of course, my unit is simply plugged directly to the TV (no home theatre setup here). You may want to crank up the volume on the unit all the way by pressing on the Volume + sign on the unit remote, like you would on a Videotron cable box; that way you can adjust the volume of the media you are watching directly with your TV remote.

ASUS OPLAY_MINI/1A/NTSC/AS O!Play Mini Digital Media PlayerMy mini-player arrived at my door just the other day and with a very quick review of the printed guide I had my OPlay up and running on an old clunker of a TV. The unit didn't have a single problem reading file formats, the "Options" and "Guide" features are really easy to understand and to use. The remote works really well. Picture quality seems excellent and the sound is good. This seems to be a flawless product. I can't wait to try it out on an HD system but I expect it will work perfectly.

This is a very good player except the on/off from the remote not always function properly. Need to manual unplug and replug the power source in order to turn on.

Anyone that loves to watch movies will love this. Very easy to use. Just as simple or simpler than a VCR or DVD player.

I love it. Other than a few flv it plays every video file I have. Every single file - tons of different ones. I plugged in a USB HD and it showed up asap with no effort. Two partitions show up separate drive letters and I could not be happier with it.

Tech wise I can barely spell mpeg so it may have video quirks I do not recognize. It just works. I would buy it again.

For what this device does it should be priced much higher.

Ordered the product it was shipped next day did not arrive. Contacted seller they said post office lost package but rather than have me wait while they tried to track package they shipped a new order which arrived a few days later. Great service.

Using product to dsiplay promo material on TV's in company lobby and restaurants. Using HDMI at 720P works great have no issue with the function of media player, Clear, vivid color and good sound quality.

Knocked a star off as the unit did not come with a user manual in english. CD said it had one but did not. Downloaded one from the web.

I received my O!Play today and I've watched one movie on it so far. The movie was 720p, and the picture from the O!Play was perfect. The user interface is straight-forward, subtitles worked properly, and the remote was adequate. Haven't hooked it up to surround sound so I can't comment on that. If you don't need a device with networking/WiFi capability, the Asus O!Play does its job well and is priced right. Would definitely recommend.

This Media Player is fantastic! It's simple to use and it plays just about every video file in existence. I no longer have to restrict my video collection to certain types of files because of the restrictions of my computer and my DVD player.
