"… the best Android slate we've seen" – Computer Shopper

"A convenient keyboard dock, sleek design, and aggressively low price make the Eee Pad Transformer our favorite Wi-Fi-only Honeycomb tablet." – Laptop Magazine

"Of all of these new entrants, the Eee Pad Transformer impresses us most so far—and not just because of its low price tag. The 10-inch slate is lighter than competing Honeycomb tablets, features an IPS screen for wider viewing angles, and plugs into an optional keyboard dock that adds more battery life. It's this kind of combo that could prove a hit with the back-to-school crowd, as well as mobile professionals who want to take notes in meetings. The dock adds a reasonable $149 to that rock-bottom $399 price." – Laptop Magazine

Get refined multitasking, rich notifications, Home screen customization, widgets, and more. And experience the web with Adobe® Flash® 10.21 for added convenience.

Other Android Features:

  • Customizable Home screens
  • Five customizable Home screens give users instant access to all parts of the system from any context. Each screen offers a large grid that maintains spatial arrangement in all orientations. Users can select and manipulate Home screen widgets, app shortcuts, and wallpapers using a dedicated visual layout mode. Visual cues and drop shadows improve visibility when adjusting the layout of shortcuts and widgets. Each Home screen also offers a familiar launcher for access to all installed applications, as well as a Search box for universal search of apps, contacts, media files, web content, and more.

  • Recent Apps, for easy visual multitasking
  • Multitasking is central to the Android 3.2 experience. As users launch applications to handle various tasks, they can use the Recent Apps list in the System Bar to see the tasks underway and quickly jump from one application context to another. To help users rapidly identify the task associated with each app, the list shows a snapshot of its actual state when the user last viewed it.

  • Redesigned keyboard
  • The Android soft keyboard is redesigned to make entering text fast and accurate on larger screen sizes. The keys are reshaped and repositioned for improved targeting, and new keys have been added, such as a Tab key, to provide richer and more efficient text input. Users can touch-hold keys to access menus of special characters and switch text/voice input modes from a button in the System Bar.

  • Improved text selection, copy and paste
  • When entering or viewing text, a new user interface lets users quickly select a word by press-hold and then adjust the selection area as needed by dragging a set of bounding arrows to new positions. Users can then select an action from the Action Bar, such as copy to the clipboard, share, paste, web search, or find.

NVIDIA® Tegra 2, world's first mobile super chip, brings the fastest, most visually-rich tablet experience ever seen. 4.0 out of 5 stars Great tablet, but could use a few tweaks..., Jun 6 2011
This review is from: ASUS Eee Pad Transformer TF101-B1 10.1-Inch Tablet Computer (Tablet Only) (Personal Computers)
I've had this tablet for a week now and I am generally really enjoying it. The ability to surf the web as you would on a normal computer is really what sets Honeycomb tablets apart from the Ipad, and from reviewing other honeycomb tablets in the store before I bought, I have to say the transformer is smoother and more responsive than the rest. Don't buy this tablet expecting the same amount of apps as on hte Ipad though! Honeycomb has only been out for a very short while, so even though there are tons of Android apps available, there are very few that are designed to really take advantage of the screen size. Also, because the OS is quite new, there are still a few bugs that come up every now and again, but I think this is greatly improved in the new 3.1 update.

The device itself is a real treat - it's light, easy to hold, and the screen is clear and vibrant. I've already mentioned that the performance is good, and I have to say also that there has never been any issue of the tablet getting hot, even when playing graphically intensive games. Overall I'm generally very happy with my purchase.

So here's a list of pros and cons:

    Pros:
    - Thin and light
    - Good battery life
    - Great screen
    - Can stand up to the odd bump (I dropped it accidentally from a couple of feet off the ground, due to forgetting that the charge cable was still plugged in, so it pulled the device out of my hand. There wasn't even a scratch on the device!).
    - Really great browser support, including flash player.
    - Ability to dock it and turn it into an netbook.
    - MicroSD card slot

    Cons:
    - The default keyboard isn't great, so you're better investing in a split screen keyboard app.
    - Charging cable is VERY short, so using it while charging is difficult, and if you forget that you left it plugged in and go to pick it up, you will probably have the device yanked from your hand, or you'll wrench the cable (or both). Invest in a USB 3.0 extension if you want to avoid this problem, USB 2.0 doesn't work.
    - Can't charge the tablet from a normal USB 2.0 port (unless the tablet is fully off, when I'm told it will trickle charge).
    - Lack of "must have" apps, but this should come with time
    - OS still has some bugs at times
    - Flash video can be a bit choppy at times, but this is a problem for pretty much all mobile devices from what I hear.
    - No way to fully backup all settings and saved data/games without rooting the device (though you can sync some data with Google, not all data can be synched).

Over all I really enjoy this tablet and would recommend it (I prefer it over the Ipad by far!) but whether you prefer this or the Ipad will mostly depend on what you want to do with it. As I use it mostly for surfing the web, the Ipad just isn't an option for me as I want to see sites the way they were designed to be seen.

We all love this tab, it work perfectly. It is lightweight. Not the best camera (we didn't purchase it for that purpose ) The battery could be better if i compare to the xoom tab. Great product!

4.0 out of 5 stars freedom from iTunes....., Sep 11 2011
This review is from: ASUS Eee Pad Transformer TF101-B1 10.1-Inch Tablet Computer (Tablet Only) (Personal Computers)
I have an iPad....dealing with iTunes drives me crazy. For example, I switched email accounts but iTunes won't let me move all items to the new email account. I also don't want use iTunes for songs and video. So I bought my wife the ASUS.....admittedly it is early in our usage, but it seems to be equal to the iPad, except for fewer apps. But it has all the apps we need. Looking forward to Android taking Apple down a peg or two.
