Two decades overdue....comprehensive and reasonably priced!!,
By Paul Tognetti "The real world is so much more... (Cranston, RI USA) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Absolute Animals 1964-1968 (Audio CD)
I have been searching for a comprehesive collection of The Animals since I was collecting vinyl. I never found one. The only collection I ever saw that included all of their hit records was a 2 CD set from Britain that contained far more material than I wanted at a price I was unwilling to pay. This set, from Australia's Raven records, is a real gem. It includes all of the M-G-M hits from the original 1964-1966 Animals as well as hits by the new incarnation of the group known as Eric Burdon and the Animals from 1967-1969. The set includes just about all of their charted records and a couple of bonus cuts. And the price is right. Raven records has also included a 12 page booklet describing the history of the group and what the group members are up to today. I saw Eric Burden at a local festival a couple of years ago. He looks and sounds just the same. If you are an Animals fan or a collector, I would snap this one up while it is available. A great buy!!

More hits than I could think of. "Boom Boom" is a killer song. British Invasion music really is superior to their American counterparts, as a whole. The Animals' version of "Ring of Fire" is fascinating. If you like 60's music, get this CD.

This is Not the Best Collection,
This review is from: Absolute Animals 1964-1968 (Audio CD)
Retrospective is a better collection. This one is missing too many early hits, especially We've Gotta' Get Out of This Place. Both collections, however, are missing any entries from their comeback album of 1979. The chilling Please Send Me Someone To Love has never made it onto any Animals' compilation album.
