Product Description

Twenty-five or sixty-five, we all want to look our vital, youthful best. The frustrating truth is that no matter how we wish it wasn't so, each day brings tiny changes, constantly chipping away at youth and beauty. Happily, with proper guidance most of this can be prevented, controlled, and reversed. It is a simple and sensible lifelong journey that will yield great rewards for all ages.

Renowned plastic surgeon Dr. Gerald Imber changed the way men and women deal with aging in his books The Youth Corridor, which offered the first integrated strategy to control the signs of aging, and For Men Only, designed for the man who wants to stay trim and youthful but doesn't know where to turn for advice. Now, after vast improvements in science and surgery, Dr. Imber once again paves the way for people to find the path toward keeping their youthful appearance.

In Absolute Beauty, Dr. Imber explores the new horizon for staying young-looking and the cutting-edge breakthroughs in areas such as:

  • Minimally invasive facial surgeries
  • New limited-incision facelifts
  • New wrinkle fillers
  • Anti-aging skin-care strategies
  • New antioxidant strategies

Absolute Beauty provides the crucial information needed to help you look your absolute best throughout your adult life. Dr. Imber's regimen will show you how to slow down the damage of time and help you turn back the clock. It will tell you how to protect your youthful good looks -- your absolute beauty -- by avoiding accelerating the changes that lead to aging and undoing the visible changes already present.

This indispensable book covers all aspects of the modern cosmetic surgical experience and is a must-have guide for anyone considering plastic surgery or just wanting to stay young-looking.

3.0 out of 5 stars Could have been much better, Mar 13 2006

This review is from: Absolute Beauty: A Renowned Plastic Surgeon's Guide to Looking Young Forever (Hardcover)
This book, written by one of the top plastic surgeons around today, promises to provide its readers with the information needed to look their best as they continue to age. It offers guidance on how to slow down the aging process by incorporating lifestyle changes (skin care, exercise, healthy eating, etc.) and if needed how to turn back the clock with medical/surgical assistance. The author defines the different kinds of plastic surgery options for the face, discusses their effects and suggests who would be the ideal candidate for each procedure. He also talks about non-surgical options such as Botox and wrinkle fillers. The book also touches upon current skin care fads and the author weighs in on whether they are effective or not.

Now to my opinion...
This book is poorly organized, and makes for very dull reading, probably more suitable to a medical school lecture than to the average person reading this book. Dr. Imber is a celebrity plastic surgeon, and yet he didn't include one juicy celebrity anecdote in the 150 pages of text! More importantly there are few bullet points or checklists and they are buried in the pages so good luck finding them. For someone who claims to understand how confusing the world of anti-aging is today, he didn't seem to care about making his own book user friendly. I felt like he rambled on about the specific chemical compounds of wrinkle fillers while neglecting the real concerns the readers would have such as when to use this, what to try first, what to avoid and give me real life examples of what to expect, and make it easy to find again when I need to refer to it.
Most unforgivably of all he includes only matte black and white pictures! It is nearly impossible to discern between the before and after or to notice the progression of wrinkles that he is discussing.
Finally at the end he includes three, only three, real-life case studies. A younger woman, a middle-age woman, and an older woman. None of their skin problems was remotely like mine, and no pictures accompanied his before and after discussion.

I recommend instead Your Future Face by Dennis Gross M.D. It provides what this book lacks and has been very helpful.
