Make sure you check the ISBN for this book. This is actually Volume 2 and not the first volume. That is why there are so many Amazon sellers as Volume 1 is much more rare.

do a search for League of Extraordinary Gentlemen to get to the Volume 1. Volume 1's ISBNs are:
ISBN-10: 1401200524
ISBN-13: 978-1401200527

5.0 out of 5 stars Get It While You Can, Mar 24 2007
By Grant Waara - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Absolute League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (Hardcover)
I just purchased this last week. There was a store nearby that had a copy, so I got it. I got lucky. I knew it was out of print and if it wasn't for that, I'd have to go to ebay or other dealers and the price would be insane.....

Anyway, if you can find this book and are a fan of Alan Moore, the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (and NO, not that godawful movie) or Kevin O'Neill's art, then this is the package for you. As is typical of DC's Absolute Editions, the production is first rate and the bonus things that go along with it are worth the price alone. In this package, you get the book (which is an oversize, hardcover version of the trade paperback) and another book which has Alan Moore's scripts and Kevin O'Neill's sketches and workups and a short essay by Mr. O'Neill which is funny and entertaining above all, informative.

For me, the inclusion of Moore's scripts alone make the cost of the book worth it. I'm fascinated by the comic creative process and how writers go about writing a comic story. Mr. Moore is the most revered and respected of all the writers in this medium, this is an invaluable insight into the process and into the minds of one of not just the best comic book writers, but one of our best writers period. As a bit of a writer myself, this is truly inspirational.

Definitely worth it if you can get it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Extraordinary, Dec 28 2011
By Bill Jameson - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Absolute League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (Hardcover)
Anyone who is reading this review is likely more ineterested in my thoughts on the Absolute Edition of the first Volume of League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. So I'm not going to talk in much detail about the work

Mini-review of the Content: Little can be said about the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen that has not already been said. It's of course Moore's most fun, brilliant and significant work post-From Hell. Starring a wide cast of famous Victorian characters creating a proto-Justice League. Kevin O'Neill (Marshall Law) draws in a style that seems cartoony but is as intricate and in-depth as Moore's scripts (more on that in a bit). Together with the creator of Watchmen Alan Moore the two create a captivating adventure story that is filled with humor and action. Despite being as intricate as Watchmen with every single character appearing in panel being a reference to a character from Victorian Fiction, the main narrative is an easy and captivating read. Coupled with an equally exciting pulp-Adventure prose section revolving Allan Quartermain.

On the Absolute Edition: This is meant for the diehard fans, as are all of the Absolute Editions. In this magnificent set includes the six-issues and the treasure trove of Alan Moore's scripts. With these we get a magnificent incite into the creative process that leads into creating the series. Considering Moore's legendary long scripts are included is a gem enough, but also included in the set is an introduction by Kevin O'Neill and some preliminary sketches. Together this powerful set is well worth the steep price tag.
