In the USA we refer to a year's worth of shows as a "season"; in the UK a year's worth of shows is referred to as a "series." Therefore, this video contains the second half of the first series of AB FAB episodes; due in part to the fact that Jennifer Saunders and Dawn French write these shows themselves (as opposed to having a team of writers), there are only six episodes per series, meaning there are only three episodes on this tape. These are classic episodes, and I love them all. We get to see the '90's drunken, dysfunctional version of Lucy and Ethel on their iconoclastic misadventures.
The first episode on this video is "Iso Tank." The plot is, well, ridiculous as usual: Patsy and Edina are in an "isolation tank" in hopes of detoxifying and, perhaps, to lose weight. Saffron (Edina's straight-laced daughter with the ever-disapproving gaze) is preparing a school presentation for science class. Edina has not been invited and, in revenge, decides to adopt a Romanian baby.
"Birthday" is about Eddie's 40th: "It's like I hit an oil patch at 35 and now I'm just skidding toward the grave, darling." In other words, she ain't happy about it. Saffie (Edina's daughter) resolves to try to make the best of it by organizing a family lunch, including two ex-husbands and their current flames: a female nurse and a male antique dealer. But as Edina points out, they're hardly the "bloody Waltons."
In "Magazine" we are treated to the startling revelation that Patsy is actually good at something: she has an office; only one problem...she can't find it. She is fashion director for a high-class fashion magazine and is due for a meeting.

Enter the delightfully decadent world of ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS with these 3 episodes from the first season.
"Iso Tank" - Banned from attending Saffy's college open-day, Eddy is sulking in her new isolation tank. But she has a few more tricks up her Lacroix sleeves yet!
"Birthday" - The acursed day has arrived; Eddy's 40th birthday. Saffy has invited her two ex-husbands and their new spouses for a civilised sit-down lunch, but Eddy and Patsy have other ideas...
"Magazine" - Eddy has a new man and Patsy has to go to work...what's going on around here??!!?
Starring Joanna Lumley, Jennifer Saunders, Julia Sawalha, June Whitfield, Mo Gaffney and Jane Horrocks.

By the time I got to this, the second video of the series, I was transformed into an Absolutely Fabulous junky. I couldn't get enough and it just kept getting better and better.

Absolutely Fabulous............ Dec 7 1999

If you are not familiar with Edina and Patsy but are a fan of Brit comedy you should absolutely check out AB FAB. Even when (although not often) the writing of the sketches are not completely up to par with Jennifer Saunders ability, you are still roaring with laughter. As in a memorable novel, the characters are superbly done and completely unforgettable. When you turn them on its like having an old, alcoholic, irresponsible, manipulating friend coming back into your life. Only you can turn Edina and Patsy off when you want them to go away. (But you wont want to)
This tape includes the episodes ISO TANK, BIRTHDAY, and MAGAZINE.
ISO TANK - Saffron prepares for her DNA presentation at University's opening day. Meanwhile, Edina is soaking in her isolation tank with Patsy and schemes a way to get an invite to Saffy's presentation. (In this episode however, things are not always what they appear to be)
BIRTHDAY - Its Edina's 40th birthday and she is definitely at her best when she is at her worst. (this epidode alone deserves 5 stars) Saffy prepares a boring old dinner for her mummy and invites (GASP) her 2 exhusbands and their new partners.
MAGAZINE - Edina has a new man in her life and stays out all night long with him. What in the bloody bullocks is Patsy supposed to do without her?

IMHO, ISO Tank was the ep that took the cake of the entire series. (Close second to SEX) The best part was the DNA presentation (Look for the "DLA Project" T-Shirts Eddie had made). "Danny" was great too... (too good to be true in fact) "Mark 'em up, send 'em on..."
