Product Description

From Publishers Weekly

CIA operative Mitch Rapp returns in another taut thriller. With the presidential elections close at hand, it looks a little iffy for Democratic candidates Josh Alexander and running mate Mark Ross, but when a bomb attack on their motorcade leaves Alexander's wife and numerous others dead, the sympathetic vote sweeps the two men to a bittersweet victory at the polls. At first the bombing looks to be the work of al-Qaeda, but evidence soon points to a source much closer to home. Schultz brings a comfortable presence to his reading. Having narrated several of the past Rapp adventures, he is on familiar ground, and it shows. His clear, crisp reading style fits perfectly, beat for beat, with Flynn's straightforward storytelling. His characterizations are distinct and well handled, giving Rapp just the right amount of gruffness, while at the same time providing each of the supporting characters with their own individual voices without using over-the-top accents or vocalizations,. Peter Michalos's fine abridgment keeps the story moving with no apparent sacrifice of character or plot.

1.0 out of 5 stars Act of Treason, Jan 27 2012
This review is from: Act of Treason (Hardcover)
Was received January 16, 2012 As per email was supposedly shipped with "dust jacket missing, remainder mark on bottom edge." The book had been given a dark (coffee, tea or coke etc) liquid bath before shipment. It came with bubbled and stained dust cover; every page bubbled and brittle with dark stain 1 1/2" from bottom. The only way this book should have been shipped was free with no cost shipping and as a temporrary substitution until a proper quality book could be shipped. Totally disgusted and would not purchase from this supplier again.

3.0 out of 5 stars Typical Political Intrigue, Mar 1 2008
By
Toni Osborne "The Way I See It" (Montreal, Canada) - See all my reviews
(TOP 100 REVIEWER)
This review is from: Act of Treason (Paperback)
The nation is thrown into turmoil when Presidential candidate Josh Alexander's motorcade is ambushed and the car is rocked by a car bomb killing Alexander's wife and many others. On the surface it appears to be the work of jihads terrorists. The FBI and CIA are hot on the case. The CIA director is presented with classified information pointing to some of the most powerful players in Washington. Mitch Rapp is the only man reckless enough to get down to the truth. His mission leads him eventually back to the heart of the Nation's capital and to the Oval Office...

The writing is as fast-paced and as dramatic as ever. The plot is the typical political intrigue found in Flynn's previous books, nevertheless quite satisfying. The book's climatic moments are when Mitch goes into action, the author knows how to stage elaborate action sequences and ends the story in a very controversial way. Mitch Rapp's role is intriguing and cleverly created. The additions of new characters add to the suspense. Once again Flynn has created a novel hard to put down.
