4.0 out of 5 stars A comprehensive reference July 25 2010
By terra - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
As someone new to Flash but not new to programming, I've found this book to be comprehensive and easy to understand. The explanations were clear and friendly. The working demos of the example code available via the accompanying website are a great bonus.

This book also does a great job of catering to complete beginners to programming, even covering the basics of OOP.

I also enjoyed some of the fun examples, such as the seagull circus with the mutant three-legged seagull.

5.0 out of 5 stars A magnificent tome May 11 2010
By J. Anzalone - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Not just a bible, but also a grimoire. The 3.0 guide is a complete revision and rewrite from the previous edition. These kinds of books always seem so daunting and unapproachable, but I was happy to find that this new version easy to read and easy to learn from. It's not only up-to-date but it is hip to current trends in the community, and for that it is doubly useful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reference + Examples = Bible May 15 2010
By George Barton Davis - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
A book like this has to balance between educating people new to ActionScript (like myself) and informing old users about new features. It also has to balance between providing examples that coherently introduce subsystems like Flash Text, and providing a reference that stays useful long after you are familiar with each of the topics. So far the AS3 bible balances all of those very well. The authors have done an excellent job at crafting examples that match the general tasks most developers are likely to have, but also demonstrate each of the topics fairly deeply.
