Bel Canto Fan Nov. 10 2010

I purchased this recording with no knowledge of the music. Had only read two short reviews. As such, I have not heard a French version.
This German version is a delight. Voices and sound are great, and though a live recording, there is no audience noise or applause. It is a happy romp and quite different from 'Le Toreador', which I already had. I do not know whether or not there is usually any recitative or spoken words, but this recording has none, only music. At the prices offered, it is a very good buy.
Adolphe Charles Adam: Der Postillon von Lonjumeau June 14 2012
By Bjorn Viberg - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Adolphe Charles Adam: Der Postillon von Lonjumeau is a comic opera in 3 acts written by Adolphe Charles Adam. Klaus Arp leads the Runfunkorchester Des SWF Kaserslautern on this Capriccio recording from 1994. The booklet does not only contain all the lyrics in German and English, but also well-written music notes and photographs from the time of the recording. Truly a fun and delightful comic opera that I thoroughly enjoyed. Highly recommended indeed. 5/5.

Nicely performed and recorded. But a French opera sung in German. Come on guys! Its like Gotterdamerung in French. Does not compute. But it is somewhat of rarity and beggars cannot be choosers.
