Happy Staff with Adobe 9,
By
This review is from: Adobe Acrobat 9 PDF Bible (Paperback)
I bought these for my staff to use as reference material and to learn how to use Adobe 9. So far the feedback has been very good and their knowledge and skills in this area is increasing exponentially.

So-So Book,
By Thomas E. Hendricks - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Adobe Acrobat 9 PDF Bible (Paperback)
This book is certainly better than the Help file (which as a class for most software these days is no help). It puts a tag line on the cover that it addresses VBA and other "advanced" issues with the product. It really doesn't, a few pages beyond what you would expect in any user interface manual is all that is provided. From the commentary in the book's what to expect setup sections you can infer this book is encouraged by Adobe so they can in fact avoid providing a good Help file. I'd prefer a book guided by extensive direct use as opposed to one guided by the software publisher. If the software publishers tried to produce a product that wouldn't require such after-market documentation all would be better off. 3 of 5 people found the following review helpful

Acrobat 9 PDF Bible,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Adobe Acrobat 9 PDF Bible (Paperback)
I have an 800 pg book written in Word but now in PDF for publication. I need Indexes for Subjects and Authors. There was nothing in this book to tell me how to make an Index for the back of the book, even though this book has such an index at the back of the book. The index it describes is some other kind of Index. This book (and 3 others I bought) was worthless to me. I would like to know why Indexes at the back of the book were not discussed. My Word 2003 Manual has 8 (only eight)instructions to do the job! It's not that hard that Padova should have ignored it.

Software not included,
By Mike Reish - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Adobe Acrobat 9 PDF Bible (Paperback)
Be advised that the only software on the CD (besides the demo file) is Acrobat Reader. The cover lead me to believe that demo copies of Standard, Pro, and Pro Extended Versions where included. I know you can download a demo copy of Standard but I assumed a demo copy of the others was on the CD. It's my own stupid fault for not reading the Amazon page before paying full price at the local book store. Oops.
