Many errors,

This review is from: Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 Classroom in a Book (Paperback)
Prospective buyers should be warned that this book contains many errors and that the accompanying CD is missing a few files. Luckily, you can obtain updates including a list of corrected errors and the missing files at www.peachpit.com/dwcs3cibOther than that, I'm enjoying working through the book. I knew it contained errors and was able to find the corrections in time. If I had designed this book, however, I would have designed the exercises in such a way that the reader would have to build a site almost from scratch, with the exception being assets such as text and images. I'm curious as to why Amazon.ca has not published other reviews of this book. Surely, I'm not the first Amazon customer to notice the errors.

Boo! Terribly disappointing!,

I am so totally disappointed with this book. I've used the Classroom in a Book series in the past to learn Photoshop and GoLive and found them to be very useful. However, this one is completely frustrating because it misses key steps in the lessons, inserts concepts/terminology without any introduction or explanation, contains errors (some minor, some crucial) and simply doesn't flow. Perhaps it would be fine if a person already knew how to use Dreamweaver, but then, why would they be using this book?? Fortunately, I also purchased Creative Suite 3 Design Premium for Dummies, which, although doesn't fully cover Dreamweaver, has helped pick up the pieces that Classroom in a Book has omitted. Two thumbs way way down on this one!!

Good beginner book,

I'm not a great fan of the Classroom in a book collection. They are good to make very basic exercices to get you started, but you really need a more advanced book after that if you want to go deeper...That said, this book is one of the good books in this collection. It provides enough informations for you to be able to create a basic website. I particularly loved the lesson 7 about layout and lesson 9 about Spry. I'm an Adobe Certified Expert for DW CS3, so I only use this book for teaching, but it's a good one. For more advanced stuff (and reference book), I recommand Dreamweaver CS3 Visual Quickstart (Dreamweaver CS3 Bible, which I didn't look at, should be a good choice too...).
