Buy the Book!,
By
This review is from: The Adobe Photoshop CS5 Book for Digital Photographers (Paperback)
This book is terrific. Scott brings the skills he uses to describe how to get the most out of your camera to the software that will help with the pictures you take. It is easy to follow, makes sense and saves you time as he takes you through the various steps needed to improve the photo you took. I have purchased other books on CS5 but this was the best by far.

Very good tricks and tips with step by step instructions,
This review is from: The Adobe Photoshop CS5 Book for Digital Photographers (Paperback)
This book is very nice for photographers who wish to post-process their photographs in a short period of time. The book gives very good tricks and tips with step by step instructions along with figures. It doesn't go in technical details but explains it what it is supposed to. The bonus chapters and bonus videos on this book's website are also helpful. It's a great buy.

Too Similar to Elements.....,
By Steve J. Rogers (Burin Bay Arm, Newfoundland Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Adobe Photoshop CS5 Book for Digital Photographers (Paperback)
First off, I loved the Photoshop Elements books by Scott Kelby. However, there are a lot of similarities with this book and the Photoshop Elements books (actually some of the same images). He spends a lot of time with editing in RAW, very little in Photoshop. Very little instruction with regards to special effects and using the quick mask tool and layering. There's some basic filler....i.e. how to make your picture look like a watercolor painting (you can do this easily in $89 Elements). There's not a lot of "meat" in this book for the $600+ program it is supposed to cover (even briefly). Overall, I was disappointed. It seems as if he just used the same images and changed a few words.....
