ARE YOU READY FOR AN AMAZING NEW VERSION OF THE PHOTOSHOP BOOK THAT BREAKS ALL THE RULES?

Scott Kelby, Editor and Publisher of Photoshop User magazineand the best-selling Photoshop author in the world todayonce again takes this book to a whole new level as he uncovers more of the latest, most important, and most useful Adobe Photoshop CS6 techniques for digital photographers.

This major update to his award-winning, record-breaking book does something for digital photographers that’s never been done beforeit cuts through the bull and shows you exactly “how to do it.” It’s not a bunch of theory; it doesn’t challenge you to come up with your own settings or figure it out on your own. Instead, Scott shows you step by step the exact techniques used by today’s cutting-edge digital photographers, and best of all, he shows you flat-out exactly which settings to use, when to use them, and why. That’s why the previous editions of this book are widely used as the official study guides in photography courses at colleges and universities around the world.

LEARN HOW THE PROS DO IT

Each year, Scott trains thousands of professional photographers on how to use Photoshop, and almost without exception they have the same questions, the same problems, and the same challengesand that’s exactly what he covers in this book. You’ll learn:
  • The sharpening techniques the pros really use.
  • The pros’ tricks for fixing the most common digital photo problems fast!
  • The step-by-step setup for getting what comes out of your printer to match exactly what you see onscreen.
  • How to process HDR (High Dynamic Range) images using CS6’s Merge to HDR Pro.
  • How to master CS6’s Content-Aware features.
  • How to use Photoshop CS6’s new video editing features to make movies from your DSLR videos.
  • How to process RAW images like a pro (plus how to take advantage of all the new Camera Raw features in CS6!).
  • The latest Photoshop special effects for photographers (there’s a whole chapter just on these!).
  • A host of shortcuts, workarounds, and slick “insider” tricks to send your productivity through the roof!
Plus, Scott includes a special bonus chapter with his own CS6 workflow, from start to finish, and each chapter ends with a Photoshop Killer Tips section, packed with timesaving, job-saving tips that make all the difference. If you’re a digital photographer, and if you’re ready to learn all the “tricks of the trade”the same ones that today’s leading pros use to correct, edit, sharpen, retouch, and present their work—then you’re holding the book that will do just that.

Review

"He has a project-based approachgorgeous screenshots and illustrations. ¿Scott Kelby does a beautiful job. It is not an exhaustive book and the great thing about it is if you want to work on these projects, he's got it."
John Nemorovski, PIXIQ

"Anytime I know I’m going to be on a long flight I like to take the books from this series and re-read them because I always pick up great new things each time. While it’s more of a recipe book that you'll use as a reference, I find myself using this book at least once a month for some tricky challenge I face. I love it and can’t live without it!”

Skill Level : ALL - Beginner to Advanced
Value: Excellent (worth every penny)
Recommendation : Must Own for those who don’t have previous editions and worth the upgrade for those doing video or who want to pick up modern day skills. ¿

2.0 out of 5 stars Adobe Photoshop CS6 Book Aug. 20 2012
By Marcel
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Outstanding book, very well designed. I am very please with the content of this book explaining in detail how to solve and correct many situations. I learned a great deal from Scott Kelby's knowledge and the obvious experience he has with Photoshop. As with all his books it is a must read for those who want to learn and get better with Photoshop.
On the Negative side......... Only after a few days I got the book, it fell apart and I complained about the book. Amazon.ca replaced the book immediately only to receive the same problem. THE BINDING OF THIS BOOK IS BAD.
Amazon.ca is sorry to hear that my replacement shipment had a similar problem. Amazon.ca goes to explain that due to the volume of packages they process, they use an automated computer system and artificial intelligence equipments. The inventory information of items is also electronically maintained and because of this it is IMPOSSIBLE FOR THEM to locate and pullout a single package during the process. Amazon.ca acknowledge that there seem to be a widespread problem with "the Adobe Photoshop CS6 Book for Digital Photographers". The bottom line is: if they sand me an other replacement oder for this item it might be the case that I will get the defective item again, so it is because of this, Amazon is NOT ABLE to send an other replacement.
Because of their limitation issues I had the following options: Keep the the book and get a 20% discount off the price or return the entire set for full refund.

1.0 out of 5 stars very poor book binding!! Sept. 15 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I'm a serious hobby photographer and a long time fan of the Kelby books however this one has been very poorly made- I've opened it only three times & the binding has basically fallen apart & the pages are falling out. I think the Kelby group need to have a serious chat with whomever is making the books on their behalf... they should get a refund (so should I) .... this level of quality just isn't acceptable. I certainly could not recommend this book to any of my many photograph community friends until they fix this seriois problem. However, having said that, content of the book is excellent (as usual). ian james

5.0 out of 5 stars Great. As always Sept. 16 2012
By Bookman
Format:Paperback
Mr Kelby has written another excellent photoshop manual. The content is worth every penny.

BUT as others have stated, the binding is abysmal. This book will fall apart as soon as you open it!

It is no use getting another from Amazon, it isn't their fault at all. Whoever picked the binding method did not know what they were doing. Best advice: take it to your local photocopy service and get them to rebind it for you it will be worth it.

Complain to Peachpit Press about it.

4.0 out of 5 stars good book, bad binding Nov. 12 2012
By axie
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I don't need to review the book, because it is just as well written as the other Kelby books.
However, I am adding my voice to those others who have complained about the binding.
It is inexcusable. We have a dozen previous Kelby books on our shelves, and none have a binding issue.
The company which binds this book should be taken to task. I would rather have a book with spiral bound edges then the disaster this book turned out to be.
And yes - it is the second copy, which I received because the first copy fell apart within two weeks of use. Careful use.
Obviously there is no point in asking for a third copy, so I have started taping the pages as they fall apart. What a mess.
I want the information, but it's now a nightmare to find and read it.
You can do better than this, Adobe! We paid well for this book.
