4.0 out of 5 stars An Eclectic Mix of Ecletcic Shows Oct. 20 2009
By Andrew B. - Published on Amazon.com
For the [adult swim] fan, this may seem like an ideal gift. It certainly would be, provided they don't already own one or more of the seasons present in this box set. Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Robot Chicken and Metalocalypse are present-day staples of the [adult swim] lineup. For those who have only recently tuned in, Sealab 2021 and Space Ghost Coast to Coast may be welcome discoveries of shows missed. Moral Oral is an acquired taste (I enjoyed it), and its inclusion is a little odd, whereas the other shows had more mass appeal to the [adult swim] audience.

The obvious question is: Why are all of the shows not season 1? I don't have that answer. Suffice it to say the only [adult swim] show that requires sequential viewing is The Venture Bros. (whose inclusion would have made much more sense than Moral Orel). Viewers will not suffer from not having seen the first seasons of Aqua Teen Hunger Force (the show follows no on-going plotlines), Space Ghost (a late-nite talk show), Robot Chicken (a stop-motion skit comedy show), or Sealab 2021 (a sitcom-like series, but also does not follow on-going plotlines). My assumption is that Cartoon Network perhaps has too many of these particular seasons in stock, and felt this would be an excellent way to move some overstock. In any case, this box set is a wonderful sampling of what [adult swim] has to offer in way of programming, both past and present.

What is not mentioned in the product description is the inclusion of a disc containing previously unavailable pilot episodes. They are: Korgoth of Barbaria, Welcome to Eltingville, Perfect Hair Forever, Cheyenne Cinnamon, and The Best of Totally for Teens. (Full disclosure: The inclusion of Korgoth and Eltingville made this a 'must buy' for this reviewer. I've kept a vhs recording of Eltingville since it first aired in 2002 and Korgoth was on my dvr for well over a year before being deleted.) These pilots also offer a great mix of animated comedy and a look at what might-have-been for [adult swim].

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun! Fun! Fun! - but not for Nana's Dec 30 2009

This came quickly and was well packaged. My 22 y/o son was very excited to receive this. His 66 y/o grandmother however, became quite flustered when he had one of the DVDs playing while we were visiting. AWESOME!
4.0 out of 5 stars Great collection of DVDs for any [adult swim] fan, HOWEVER ... Feb. 6 2014

EDIT: I will be keeping my original post here unedited, however I would like to note that my opinions against my received copy of Sealab 2021 Season 2 ended up not being entirely accurate. I did not realize that the dvd box for this season was purposely designed to look damaged/scratched. After looking up images of the cover they all had identical damage marks to my own copy, to which I realize it was an intended design. However, my review still stands in my commenting on the possibly used condition of the overall box set. As such I have bumped up my review to 4 stars.

First off, [adult swim] is probably my favorite channel/programming block. This box set contains various seasons from many of the great shows. The product itself is awesome and though the seasons are not all the first in their respective series, any true fan will be able to appreciate the collection as most of the episodes and shows on here are non-continuous. Overall a great buy for a great fan.

HOWEVER, when purchasing this I was not aware that the box I would be receiving is USED. The outer box was somewhat damaged with scratches and dents, and the majority of the dvd boxes inside were the same. My copy of Sealab 2021 in here was extremely damaged and torn up; though the discs themselves are fine and all work in excellent condition, I can't help but be disappointed in the used or mishandled packaging. Also, for anyone who is wondering, the box literally contains the boxes/copies of the respective season stand-alone releases. To be clear, for example, the Aqua Teen Hunger Force Volume 2 contained in this set is the same copy and box as if you were to buy the volume alone.

Overall, for the price this is a must buy for any [adult swim] fan. The collection itself is great and the box it all comes in is cool. It's just important to note here that the product is likely used or lightly damaged even though the amazon page did not specify so.
5.0 out of 5 stars It never gets old Oct. 29 2013

I could literally watch any episode of any of these shows any time and it would be just as funny as the first time, if not funnier. Personally, my favorite in the set is Sealab 2021, as the season included has most of my favorite episodes. I also love the extra features, especially the Comic-Con Panel interview.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great Shows, Hate DVD's Oct. 28 2013

This product would've been perfect if they put the shows on Blu-Ray instead of DVD; animation looks WAYYYYYY better on Blu-Ray than on DVD.
