Product Description

The aeropress is a completely new kind of coffee press that brews absolutely delicious, rich coffee without bitterness. In one minute, the aeropress will make 1 to 4 cups of american or espresso style coffee. Coffee brewed in an aeropress is rich but smooth for good technical reasons. The first and most important reason is brewing speed. Coffee yields its rich flavors quickly. From when you add hot water to when you are ready to drink, the aeropress takes about 30 seconds, just like a fine espresso machine. The time required to fill a drip coffee maker pot or the steeping time required for a traditional coffee press is measured in minutes, not seconds, and because of that, they brew bitter, acidic coffee. When brewing coffee with an aeropress, you use very hot but not boiling water, you use finely ground coffee, and the filter prevents any grit from getting into your cup, all of which are additional important reasons aeropress brewed coffee is so remarkably delicious. Fast and convenient, the aeropress coffee and espresso maker makes one of the best cups of coffee you'll ever taste. This innovative uses the ideal water temperature and gentle air pressure brewing to produce coffee and espresso that has rich flavor with lower acidity and without bitterness. It makes 1 to 4 cups of coffee or espresso, enough for 1 or 2 mugs, features a micro filtered for grit free coffee, and takes just 1 minute to make coffee, actual press time takes only 20 seconds. Its aeropress time.

I tried several means of making coffee before trying this, but few were to my satisfaction. I wanted something that could easily and quickly make a single cup of coffee (which ruled out most drip machines) that didn't destroy my increasingly sensitive stomach (ruling out my old moka pot) and didn't taste stale (ruling out instant). A Google search yielded the Aeropress as the top result, and I almost immediately ordered one.

The pluses:
+ It makes a very nice cup of coffee--the best I've made at home.
+ Once the water is boiled and the grounds are in place, it's only 30 seconds until you have your coffee.
+ Clean up is a joke: unscrew the bottom cap, remove the filter (if you plan on reusing it), press on the plunger forcing the 'puck' of condensed grounds into the compost, then rinse for a few seconds.
+ The filters are reusable. I often use them three times without noticing any change in quality.

The minuses:
- If you take it with you to work, it can be annoying explaining to everyone who walks by what the heck you're doing. (It naturally sparks curiosity.)
- The item vaguely looks like a male 'organ' enhancer.
- I haven't seen filters in stores near me, so they'd need to be ordered. Fortunately replacements are cheap and the press comes with a year's supply.

Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone.

I'm not really a coffee snob, though I know people that are. Lots has been said about the coffee it makes, and I can't disagree. Two thing I have found though, that I didn't see mentioned:

1. It seems to me that it uses a LOT of grounds. I like to make a 16-ounce cup, and I generally need three scoops of coffee for a cup. However that's using their scoop which is about twice the size if my regular coffee scoop.

2. It's tricky to store. Nice that it comes with a bag for travel, but there are a lot of parts to keep together, and the bag isn't convenient to use all the time. It stacks reasonably well, but stacking everything including the filter holder makes it too tall for my cupboards and even too tall as-is for the tote bag (meaning it's a jumble in there).

I still like it, and I wouldn't even say these are complaints per se, but things I was not aware of pre-purchase.

I was a pour over coffee guy for most of my life, the AeroPress changed that and quickly. I like to use it as a one cup (8oz) tool. I hand grind my coffee with the Hario Mini and then flip the press upside down with the plunger just under the 4 mark. Fill it up, stir it, and then attach the filter. Press away, and you've got a perfect cup of coffee. Obviously it isn't the perfect machine for making multiple cups of coffee quickly. What it is is a simple and elegant solution for that perfect cup of coffee.

Pros: Excellent and simple construction. Small and light filters (300 in a stack).
Cons: None.

The Aerobie AeroPress makes wonderful coffee, as close to excellent expresso as possible without an expensive electric machine. The fact that it is portable is a plus as well. (The Kyocera Ceramic Coffee Grinder is a good choice to grind the coffee.) Very little time is needed to make the coffee. Unlike the usual press pot, the AeroPress never leaves grounds in the cup. The AeroPress is inexpensive and it works for both espresso and press pot coffee. After replacing two electric espresso machines that required pricy repairs with this little gadget, I am very happy with the results--superb Americanos made quickly and easily.

It came really quick as most things from Amazon do. The Aeropress is great, love the coffee. It also works really well to take camping. It's still nice and small like other camping coffee makers, but makes the best coffee I've had in the back country.

It's all it's cracked up to be, take the red pill, drink the Kool-Aid, etc.

Beware, proper use of this device might turn you into a coffee snob! (Oh yeah, and some of the tea geeks at the office are now using this thing in ways it wasn't meant to be used, I wonder if they're committing tea heresy?)

The product arrived quickly and in perfect condition. The Aeropress has been a great product to use. The only thing that was a bit disappointing was the gift wrapping option I chose to use. It was pretty sloppy overall. Excessive amounts of tape was used and didn't actually hold the wrapping together as was reported back to me by the birthday recipient.

Granted, the shape of the box and product didn't make it easy - it came in a hexagonal-shaped tube so if I needed to process things quickly I might not have a lot of time to fuss with it either.

Other than the gift-wrapping snafu, all was well!
