It's not Advancing Alinsky...it is AFTER Alinsky, Feb 11 2011
By Tai Food "Food for thought" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: After Alinsky: Community Organizing in Illinois (Paperback)
I'm unclear about why the editor is listed here. I have not been able to find my copy but I believe it was a tome, as opposed to an anthology.
In either case I'm surprise the work of our current president is not available. Very Very disturbing.
By Barack Obama, at least they what he said when describing the difficulty explaining what a community organizer does.
Not if you believed in what you were doing and had exposure to law school's use of the Socratic Method. Using the adversarial position to arrive closer to the truth than if the story when unchallenged. I is the basis of our constitutional republic.
How about The adversary, the respected peer in politics who has differing views than one's own beliefs. This is in contrast to the "foe" or "enemy" who does not deserve a seat in the government if instability is the goal Shift from problem maker to problem solver. That was Sal Alinski's unmentioned belief from my brief and probably flawed research.
I was hoping Barack Obama could shed some light on this important figure so we know whether to fear his disciples or befriend them.
After Alinsky: Community Organizing in Illinois, By Barack Obama 1990
A warm and introspective look into his heart and mind to help others continue in the
tradition of any oppressed minority group but then citizen Barack Obama focuses on the
inner city hopelessness and misplaced energies to help communicate their plight and
participate in the before unknown process of local politics and how to build a formidable
adversary since the Press failed the inner cities the world over but in this educational
book now suppressed (?) for the ages....just our windy city of Chicago. Missing are the
instructional use of Pathos, Ethos, Logos....and aporia. The Sophist's fertile breeding for the weak minded is the opponent of young Barack Obama. I think the president should think how far he has veered from the wisdom of his youth.
