Fast and Pacey Dec 16 2011
By KEN SCOTT author - Published on
Format: Paperback
Downloaded this book from Kindle for a five hour trip to Barcelona. Carrying out a little research for my own book on the Spanish Civil War and this one seemed to fit the bill. Finished the book in my hotel room on the same day, a 'one dayer,' in my eyes worthy of five stars. Captured the moment perfectly and loved the historical content and the way the author skillfully took the reader back to Spain's darkest days and left just a little hint that they could easily be ressurected. Great plot, well researched book and written with an obvious passion for my adopted homeland. Hoping to read more of the same very soon.

A Gripping Read Aug. 3 2011

After Goya is engaging from page one and takes you on a thrilling journey throughout Spain and across time. Its a wonderful mix of Art History, Spanish Civil War politics, International espionage and conspiracy theory. Haarlson Phillipps is a great writer who skillfully pulls you into the intrigue and twists and turns the plot keeping you riveted. A great read!

Story's OK but so many mistakes, Sept. 19 2013

Other than the fact that there are so many characters and there's not enough about the Spanish Civil War, it's not a bad story. But the Kindle edition is hard to read: some paragraphs are indented and some not; a number of words are missing the first letter; pronouns that make you wonder who they refer to; spelling errors. But at that price I guess it's OK - distracting and annoying, but OK.

To anyone interested in passing a few hours engrossed in a well-written, well-documented and gripping mind film, then this is the book for you. A thoroughly good read which I recommend wholeheartedly.

Very good read. Had little to do with World War II but a good story line and some good surprise a twists and turns. Ending was surprising and an excellent conclusion.
