1.0 out of 5 stars Not the usual Elizabeth Gage, April 6 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Against all odds (Paperback)
These stories were not even close to the usual Elizabeth Gage novels, I bought the book to read on an airplane, excited to have a new one by her and never even finished the second story. Elizabeth Gage usually has a dark side to her work and this book was too goody goody for my taste.

1.0 out of 5 stars I was generally disappointed in this book., Jan 18 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Against all odds (Paperback)
I picked this book up in a rush for a trip and neglected to check the original copyright dates. This collection of three short novels is another bad example of repackaging old books in a new cover. It worked and I bought it looking forward to Elizabeth Gage's usual entertainment. Unfortunately, the three books orginally came out in 1984 and they show it. The first one was very disappointing. The heroine is a researcher in a company and gets embroiled in a sexual harrassment situation. She should have been a lot more savy than the author allowed her to be, and it was hard to keep reading. She's fired by the man who is harrassing her and then marries an overbearing (supposedly sexy) man who has terrible communication skills and treats her badly, including a scene that is essentially spousal rape. It would be nice if these re-releases could be updated to reflect current behavious and attitudes. I skimmed the rest of the book just to get done.
