Better things had to come afterwards,nevertheless this debut album is not bad ... first of all the excellent female vocal by Sonia Kristina is a true Curved Air trademark and, despite of the bad arrangement of a famous track by Vivaldi, the opening track "It happened Today" already shows the several sides of Curved Air's music!! A mixture of experimental folk music, with the support of a tasteful violin and such an emotional playing !! The best track of the album is the instrumental "Rob one", a true Darryl Way's imprinting, with a great feeling,under the same characteristics as the best stuff within this debut album...including the already mentioned opener.
Not completely essential, but very interesting debut album-folk prog oriented!!
Curved Air Violin Rocks!

I first heard Curved Air in the early 70's. Close your eyes and this music can take you to another place. Their addition of violin to original music as well as some baroque mix with a rock flair adds heart to their music like Ian Anderson standing on one leg making love to his flute.

Going on vague recommendation of this 1970 piece (I was told that Curved Air was sorta Earth, Wind and Fire / Sons Of Champlin-like) this is not brassy at all...much closer to It's A Beautiful Day. Lots of violin, male/female vocals, and classical touches (but unmistakeably rock). Definitely avant-garde as promised. Somewhat on the dark side (a good thing). This one will seize your ears and not let go.
