Eats DVD's and CD's like candy.

I got mine today and started feeding it's hunger immediately. After approximately 30 DVD's/CD's the unit shut down with a disc right in the middle. At first I thought it was a jam, but after reading the instructions I figured it had overheated due to use. The instructions said to unplug for 15 minutes and then fire it back up. Sure enough, it fired back up after about 10 minutes (I couldn't wait) and it finished shredding the DVD.
Slide in a DVD/CD on one side, out comes 4 strips from the other. It stops prior to shoving them all the way out, but if you insert another it will push the old one off of the unit. So if you line it up over a counter and have a trash can under it, you have non-stop shredding for about 2 minutes (40 discs) before it needs a break.
I have no doubt my information on the shredded discs is unrecoverable.

Shreds 20 DVD/CDs a minute...NOT!

The box states this shreds 20 DVD/CDs a minute. It does about 10, the motor overheats and then you have to unplug it (not just shut it off) for 15 minutes so it will work again. My advice, get some heavy duty scissors instead.

I had several hundred backup data cds and dvds to destroy and this product shredded them very easily. I destroyed them in batches of 25 to keep the unit from overheating (and it gets a little boring) and the unit ground them all up and did a great job at a very inexpensive price. I think the shredded discs are more reassuringly destroyed than the competitions drill holes. Great price, simple to use and works well. I would buy it again.
