5.0 out of 5 stars At Any Age!!!, May 14 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Alf: Season Two (DVD)
I purchased Alf for my mom who is 88 years "young" and she just loves her Alf. She was watching it on tv every night and then for some reason they took it off the air. She was disappointed, so I thought I would surprise her with a dvd. She just loves it (and I must admit so do I).

The quality of the picture is excellent. So at any age Alf is a winner!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Good TV series. Horrible DVD!!, Jun 18 2005

This review is from: Alf: Season Two (DVD)
The Alf Series is one of the best on TV and releasing butchered episodes of the show should be a crime. I bought the whole series UNCUT taped from TV in their first run 4 years ago on eBay and I am sticking with those.

In case you do decide to buy this I have episode Synopses like I did last year for Season 1 They were not on the DVD in airdate order last year and are probably not this year either

Working My Way Back To You

When Alf is forced to move to the garage after damaging an expensive painting with a sardine can, he is let back after promising to be on his best behavior for whole week. but when the week is over he accidentaly blows up the kitchen while cooking a meal for the family.

Gilligan's Island Special

Alf dreams that he is on an Island with the Gilligan and the rest. Bob Denver, Alan Hale, Russell Johnson, and Dawn Wells guest star.

Wedding Bell Blues

Alf joins a monastery when he lears that he was born in wedlock which is bad in his culture. The monks are not too happy with the fact that he talks a lot.

Prime Time

When Alf's favorite show, Polka Jamboree, is in danger of cancellation, he rigs the TV ratings to make it #1

Some Enchanted Evening

ALF shows up at Halloween costume party hosted by Willie and Kate as himself. While they are upset, the guests love him.

Pretty Woman

Lynn is upset ofer her looks and Alf enrolls her in a beauty paegent.

Something's Wrong With Me

Alf sets a severe case of the hiccups which is in danger of putting a strain on the wedding plans for Kate's mother.

Isn't it Romantic

Alf and the children give Kate and Willie a second honeymoon and do too good of a job at replicating their first one.

Alf's Christmas special

The Tanner family spend Christmas in a mountain cabin owned by a family friend. Alf gets lost and ends up in the children's ward of a local hospital. He disguises himself as a stuffed toy by remining motionless. He later befriends a terminally ill girl when they are alone and he helps her cope with the fact that she is dying and convinces Willie's friend not to commit suicide in a manner that parallels "It's a wonderful life" (Despite it's secular presentation of Christmas, This episode brought tears to my eyes)

The Boy Next Door

The Ochmonek's nephew, Jake, comes to live with them and becomes friends with Alf.

Can I Get a Witness

Alf is accused of breaking the Ochmonek's window with a football and convinces them to give him a trial. After a guilty verdict, the real culprit confesses.

We're so Sorry Uncle Albert

Willie's cranky uncle comes for a visit but they are all surprised by how nice he is. He says he is trying to make amends but when he sees Alf, he has a heart attack and dies.

You Ain't Nothin' But a Hound Dog

The Tanners take in a lost dog which becomes the center of attention. Alf becomes jealous and giver it away to a woman (Anne Ramsey) claiming to be it's owner but is obviously lying. Willie manages to rescue the dog from the woman and her boyfriend (Logan Ramsey)

Hit Me With Your Best Shot

When Brian is beat up at school, Alf calls the bully's father and vows revenge. When he shows up, Willie ends up fighting with him.

Tequilla

Kate's alcoholic friend stays with the family for the night and when she meets Alf at 2AM while she is on her binge, she thinks he is her imaginary drinking buddy she sees when she is drunk. Alf convinces her to go to a clinic.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cut to Shreds!, Aug 31 2005
By Alan J. Shaw - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Alf: Season Two (DVD)
These are syndicated cut to shreds versions of a classic show. Worse than the first syndicated cuts that were broadcast. Entire scenes cut where Alf sings songs that the cheapo Lions Gate may have to pay rights for. This is what keeps video pirates in business.

1.0 out of 5 stars ALF Gets Butchered Again, Aug 8 2005
By B. A. Jasman "Bruce A. Jasman" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Alf: Season Two (DVD)
I have been a fan of ALF from the start. ALF desserves a lot more respect than what he is getting from Lion's Gate. The excuse they give about the original air masters just does not wash considering the quality of the episodes presented on the DVD release of The Alf Files by another company that used the air masters.

Other TV shows from earlier times are being released in their complete forms. Why can't Lion's Gate do the same?

I will not buy this set and urge others to do the same and maybe, just maybe, Lion's Gate will get the message.
