This WiFi booster outperforms others I've tried, even the AirLink 101. The signal is always 'very good' to 'excellent' in operation and was easy and fast to install in windoze XP and Seven. The driver is lean and mean but requires some innovation which is not unusual with software from China. It is manufactured in Taiwan and shipped from Hong Kong via postal service in very good wrapping. It was delivered by Canada Post precisely on time. I was glad they used the postal service because it is the superior, most cost effective and efficient shipper for domestic consumers. Private corporations only serve corporations well. This would certainly be effective on a vessel visiting various ports however, I use it in the barn which is over 200 metres from the house where the WiFi signal is!

This thing picks up signals you would otherwise not see. From the 10 routers I could see with a regular usb wifi key placed in the window, I now see over 60 routers.
The only drawback is that it does not support monitoring and injection in BT so useless for penetration testing.

Connection speed vs built-in centrino wifi card on laptop is much slower, I get around 67 Mbps with built-in WIFI card on my fibreop WIFI and when I disable that card and use the alfa UBDo I get 37 Mbps. I do get a bit more wifi hotspots that I normally don't get with built-in card though so overall its an ok product for longer range. I'm just dissapointed that the speed difference is so high compared to my built-in wifi card. Maybe this is typical of USB wifi adapters..

I was able to compare with my old WiFi antenna from an other brand and Alfa was Superior in signal quality. The interface was simple to install and easy to use.I was affraid I might have problems with Windows 8.1 but no it worked like a charm.

It took a bit of playing around with drivers to get the Mac to recognize it and connect to my local network but it eventually got sorted out. CD did not come with the most recent drivers for Mavericks.

I am amazed at how well this works. I am parked in our company's truck yard 600 meters from the office with many obstructions and I get 5/5 bars. I only get 3/5 max in the office with my laptop's internal wifi. I attached it to my RV's TV antenna mast. For the price, if this thing ever fails, I will not hesitate replacing it with another identical unit. Side note, I am running Windows 7 x64 and I did not need the included driver CD or an internet connection, plug and go!

My RV is parked about a 100 feet or more from the main house, down hill.Line of sight is terrible.
I was using an Alfa AWUS036NHV that was working ok until the wifi router got moved down to the groundfloor and a minivan started parking right in my line of sight. The 36NHV could not handle that, signal strength went way down and many disconnects.
This Alfa cut right through everything and was working even with the minivan in the way.
I have mounted it on a mast on the RV ladder and am getting error free frames according to the utility(nice one with the Mac).
Mine came with just a single USB so I don't know if there are different models out there mine ended in nt.
I am running it from a 2amp powered USB hub.Been working great, link speeds higher than anything else.
Driver and utility loaded easily.

I am very glad I bought this. I live in an RV, so being able to connect to WiFi through variable lines-of-sight, no matter the weather was important to me. WOW, is all I have to say. It has endured wind storms, freezing rain, snow, and baking hot sun with nary a hiccup. Attach it to a pole, and you can pick up any WiFi signal closeby - it picks up my neighbor's signal a field, thick stand of trees, and two houses away. Every now and then, the signals will drop - just unplug the usb and replug it in and it's fine. The USB cable itself is very good quality, and a great length. If you're looking for something to boost your connective capabilities, this is the way to go. Just don't depend on Alfa's customer service: they are terrible.
